By Underrating the Border Collie You Make a Mistake

Hey Dog Lovers!

I probably don’t tell you an untruth by saying the Border Collie is a smart dog breed. These canines already proved their intellect, and skills in many ways can be seen in numerous videos, picture and study. What is more, their beauty is not negligible either. Anytime you read an article or see a video in which they are the main characters; you look at their performance with smiling.

Experimenting With a Border Collie

Chaser-a-Border-Collie-knows-1,022-wordsAnd the today story also focuses on one of the most prominent representatives of this breed named Chaser. Her owner is Dr. John Pilley, a retired American psychologist who is living in Spartanburg, South Carolina.

Canines are a lot smarter than the credit people given them. Dr. John Pilley unfolds the exact process how rapidly they can be taught and given the possibility can connect with us humans.

As we know, the Border Collie is a working dog and having a great deal of affection routines. That’s the reason that without structure within their lives, they are often destructive virtually. They are curious by nature and talented to accept teaching.

The Goal

Dr. Pilley started teaching Chaser gravely when he discovered a study published in 2004. They showed a Border Collie within that essay which learned 200 words. Dr. Pilley set the limit at 1,000 words as a mission, and eventually he published his findings in December 2010.

Those are acquired attention worldwide. The psychology professor taught different nouns, verbs, adverbs and prepositions to his dog. As he said, Chaser’s knowledge is a result of their common work. In beginning, Dr. Pilley educated his canine four hours daily during three years.

The Method

The sessions contained twenty exercises every day, and they repeated a word forty times per exercise. Dr. Pilley tested Chaser’s memory monthly. And he found that his dog could recall things in ninety percent of the cases correctly.

The majority of the phrase Chaser recognizes are toys, and she is capable of distinguish new objects dependent on their features, whether they are toy animals, balls and frisbees.

The Result

It may sound incredible for you, but Chaser already knows 1022 words so far. Scientists discovered that Chaser’s case stands apart from those of other animals with a massive glossary due to that she’s able to be consistent in reasoning.

For example, she was requested to fetch a toy whose name was unfamiliar to her. And she selected the unknown object from a bunch of toys she already familiarized with.

My Addition

I’m enjoying a great dog story happily, and this is certainly a superb news for me. Apart from that, while Chaser herself appears exceptional, possibly she can also be just like all canine, in displaying us what each dog is capable of.

Perhaps only a few dogs can be taught more than a thousand phrases. However, each canine I even have ever possessed could read our heart. And in my opinion, that is the excellent secret between animals and us, people.
