Bach Music Influences Dog Behavior Positively

Hello again!

music-effect-on-dog-behaviorMy Friend, I don’t know about you, but I use to pay attention to research related to dogs. It happens that you can stumble upon quite interesting topics sometimes. And the dog behavior is a topic that a lot of people are interested in and many seek solutions to impact it positively. My habit is what I read I compare to my own dog-keeping experience gained over the years. Now, I will discuss about the effects of music on the dogs’ behavior.

Dog Behavior Could Change by Music?

As I pointed to it above, I read a related research much earlier. The researchers studied how hundreds of the exhausted and stressful rescue dogs respond to listening different kind of music.

They concluded that human voice, and pop music was not able to calm the animals. Furthermore – as I remember – the animals become even more nervous when they heard heavy-metal music.

How to House Training A Puppy – Questions & Answers

Greetings!

house training a puppyNo question, house training a puppy is the frequent topic within the newly dog owners’s circle. That’s why it is wise to educate your pooches properly and in time. I’m sure you don’t want to desire stains on the rug as well as odor of poop spread throughout your home. Despite, the house training usually doesn’t get the deserved attention – for some reason. That’s why I am glad getting related questions because an opportunity arises for me to help the non-experienced dog owners.

House Training a Puppy A)

Here’s the first question: “We got an eight week old puppy not too long ago, and he has stopped to announce he must go out and began to pee onto its bed. I believed that doggies take care not to relieve themselves on their sleeping place. Alex, can you give some explanation why he might be doing this in any respect?

Puppy Biting Leash Can Be Stop This Way

Hello Dog Fans!

cease puppy biting leashYesterday as I shop at the local market, I noticed a woman who was walking her puppy on a leading string. This is usually an everyday thing, but the puppy biting leash activity was that drawn my attention. I watched them for a while as they wrestled each other then started talking with the lady politely. The present article results from that conversation, giving you several tips on preventing or handing this behavior.

How the Puppy Biting Leash Started

As you may know, you’re required by law to keep your doggie linked to leashing in many public areas. This has several important advantages, to mention only one; it helps to guide and guard your inexperienced puppy’s life next to traffic.

However, being rational for you your pet strolling on the leash, so strange could be him to face it firstly. Furthermore, it could be notably exhausting for you to walk with fearful or insecure canine at the other end of the leash.

This is similar to when you bring your toddler to walk and to feel secured you are hand-holding him or her. Your toddler is unaware of the hazards of traffic, don’t comprehend the relevant warning, so you give him/her safety that way.

Safety for Puppies

Yes, but there’s a catch: you cannot take your little furry friend hand-holding. Namely, it belongs to their characteristics that all of their four feet are used in the ground when walking. (I’m not talking about the circus now.)

Ergo your puppy receives safety another way – namely you apply a leash linked to the collar. So far, so good. However, plenty of puppies will assault the leash once you are out to stroll, which could be annoying.

That’s because the leading string is a type of limit to the dogs. Puppy biting leash follows from this limitation frustrates your animal. Your pet cannot endure the lead limit and therefore, start some kind of activity, which manifests itself by chewing on a lead.

Which Dog Chews the Lead

This is usually occurred with puppies; furthermore, in dogs whose owners don’t set up permanent, clear rules, if you like to say constraints. Their owner or handler is overly accepting and cooperating with the dog instead leading it.

The tendency to co-operate is weak in suchlike dogs as well as the ability of accepting rules and limits. .  Based on my experience, greater or lesser deficiencies occur in such cases that manifested in this behavior.

However, my Friend, do not fall into panic! In practice, more opportunities exist to avoid lead chewing. We look at some without exhaustive. These proved tips work splendidly with many different canines.

But, if some tip doesn’t bring success, you can try other or mix the methods. Please, be patient and persistent, the results will come.

Habituation

It may occur with puppies frequently that they aren’t familiar with the leash at all. In this case the reason of puppy biting leash is not the possible overloading or limitation. Simply, this device is alien for them.

If your pet accepted to wear the collar continuously, you can make your doggie to be accustomed to the lead. I simply gave her leash to Lisa to sniff, take into mouth and play with it. The leash contacted with her mouth and her fur.

Then I linked it to the collar and let her to pull it around the yard to feel that is part of her body. This went during a few hours while watching her behavior and ensure the lead doesn’t catch in anything.

Th lead was attached when feeding and playing with her, of course. I recommend you to use a leash for this purpose, for which you don’t feel sorry if it is decorated by few teeth marks.

Exercise With Short-term Leashed

I recommend you to start the exercise with your puppy in an impoverished home environment the way that you mount the lead up. Use the leash throughout the teaching only for short periods.

By doing this, you’ll charge your four-legged friend with limitations only for tolerable time. As your exercise progresses, you can use the leash more and more and for a longer period gradually.

Distraction by Games or Tasks

According to experiences, the leash chewing activity not occurs immediately after the mount. Your puppy will do that later when s/he realizes s/he cannot do what it wants.

Prior to that, you may offer him some toy to distract their attention. Moreover, s/he can deduct the tension possibly accumulated in your animal.

Alternatively, you can provide a job that doesn’t require the use of the leash. However, be careful, s/he may not get that task because s/he began to chew on the leash.

Namely, an inappropriate association could be occurred in that situation. You should strive to act both cases before chewing the leash as described above. So you can gradually push out the dog’s chargeable capacity.

Applying Ignore

A further way could be to cease puppy biting leash is using the ignore method. That is actually the equivalent approach helpful to train your doggie not to jump. Stop strolling, turn your back on him or her and don’t cope with your animal of any kind until s/he ceases the chewing.

As soon as s/he ceased biting the lead provide plenty of praise to acknowledge their appropriate conduct. Canines often get things done for achieving your attention.

Majority of them do leash biting for that purpose. In case you don’t pay attention to them, they feel themselves excluded from communication and stop that they do to meet your expectations.

Pack Leadership

In addition to the elimination of chewing the leash is absolutely necessary to develop and maintain your leadership in the pack. That helps you to keep your doggie under control in all situations.

Namely, the correct ranking contributes to achieve the complete success.

Experiences show that as the training progresses, the phenomenon of puppy biting leash ceases imperceptibly. That’s because the dog perceives the lead as a transmitter device between both of you.

All the best,

Alex Sparrow

Is the Popularity of Shetland Sheepdog Substantiated?

Hi again!

Shetland Sheepdog BlueMy Friend, we got familiarized with the origin of the Shetland Sheepdog recently. Moreover, you also could read about their appearance and coat care in that article. To get them know better we discuss over their temperament now. This small dog comes from the barren, windy, harsh world of the Shetland Islands. Anno, people didn’t think that the ‘poor people’s dog’ would gain such an excellent popularity as they have today. Had it been deservedly or not, it will turn out from the followings.

But, before I go any further, I quote some questions I got since the release of my previous article. Diana asked: “I already have a small, affectionate terrier, whom I love because we live together long time. But, someone recommended me a Sheltie, and I’m inclined to get it. I’m curious, if a Sheltie hurts it if I love the other a little better? Is the Sheltie used to be aggressive? My dog is three and a half years old. I’d like to know if I am able to accustom to one another if the Sheltie comes to us as a puppy?”

I will answer these questions later because the followings will bring you a broad picture earlier plus support my answer. Anyway, I feel myself entitled to meet the fears manifested above due to my large circle of dog owner acquaintances. For example, there is a woman among who lives with nine Sheltie.

Moreover, I use to talk with vets, breeders and trainers quite often. Furthermore, visiting the different dog shows belongs to my habits. These actions increase further my dog keeping knowledge I gained during more than six decades.

The Personality of Shetland Sheepdog

As for their original occupation, this is a shepherd dog with small size typical to the Shetland Islands. Due to their beauty, ease of use, sweet nature and good temperament, more and more people love it. However, many people mistakenly consider it as a miniaturized Collie.

But, that is only right when it comes to their outer appearance. Indeed, their character is closer to the Spitz-type dogs. The Sheltie is a very agile, energetic breed, after all, their original task was the herding. By now, they are performing that only sporadically.

Now they are the uncrowned king of the mini agility, as well as kept as family pets. The Shetland Sheepdog is true-hearted, keen and wanting to please you always. It is submissive and vigilant with a nice temperament. S/he is affectionate toward its family, I’d say it can’t do without people.

However, you should socialize him or her properly from the point you got the puppy. That will not be a hard task for you because s/he learns easily both from humans and other dogs.

Special Attention Needed

They are sensible enough to the tone of vocals. Furthermore, these canines aren’t going to pay attention if they perceive you don’t mean whatever you say. Moreover, Shelties also will not listen if they experience harsh treatment.

That’s why it’s wise to raise them in an environment in which the owner is a calm, consistent leader of the pack. They are filled with energy, very clever and like to learn. This breed’s intelligence comes with the requirement of being occupied mentally, too.

The Sheltie is specifically a wise herder, has the ability of manage big cattle and keeping small sheep under control equally. Their instinct for herding remained very intense in lots of species. It linked to this that they are fond of chasing different things.

Your task will be to educate your doggie avoid chasing vehicles. You’ve to ensure your Sheltie not to run unleashed close to a traffic road. Namely, at any moment, it can choose to chase a car or another thing appears on that street. Due to such conduct, contacting with a car may be fatal easily.

Small Dog Syndrome

Due to its magnificence and loveliness, the Sheltie has grown to be a preferred pet. Despite, don’t enable this animal to imagine itself as a leader of your home. Otherwise, s/he will develop such habits s/he bears as necessary, but you wouldn’t be glad on those behavior issues.

This often results in guarding behavior, sudden snapping as well as biting. Your responsibility is to teach him or her this isn’t a desirable conduct. These unfavorable characteristics usually aren’t Sheltie traits, instead called Small Dog Syndrome.

In other words, these are human triggered behaviors in which your doggie convinced s/he’s the chief over humans. That is an outcome each time a canine feels the humans are its subjects and should preserve them under control.

These adverse traits will be ceased gradually when you begin to play the role of correct leadership. Your device can be the everyday pack strolling to alleviate psychological and bodily energy.

Needed Activity

These dogs are sufficiently small for apartment living, provided that you give them consistent exercise. Shetland Sheepdog requires walks everyday plus the chance to run as frequently as possible. They prosper by linked to the leash.

However, off leash they must be remained in your fenced in yard, always. Namely, due to the dog’s chasing instinct mentioned above you should protect him or her from itself.

If you’ve an occasion, then I recommend enrolling your Sheltie to participate in advanced obedience, agility, trick training. If a chance of organized herding activity occurred, you should grab that opportunity. These will contribute to their mental stimulation that just as important than the physical.

They value the chance to discover something new during exercising. Properly occupying and exercising your dog’s brain you aid him or her to remain calm inside. A bored Sheltie becomes a bad dog. S/he will bark compulsively, and that made your home mad, not to mention other people around you in the rent.

Sheltie and Strangers

This dog – due to its alertness – indicates with loud barking if a stranger is approaching. Despite, be the property the property guarding isn’t their strength. Namely, lots of Shetland Sheepdog might show the signs of shyness with strangers.

So, in the case you are in need of a dog which will run and greet all individuals visiting you then you should forget this type. This breed might be distrustful towards unknown individuals. Usually, a Sheltie goes out of sight each time an unknown person arriving.

It’s a common phenomenon that they not enable strangers to touch them at all. Furthermore, they produce persistent loud barking, simply because they warn the people to stay away from them. Please bear in mind this if you intend to employ strangers to look after your doggie when you are off.

Kids and Sheltie

Already more people asked me whether I recommend these to live with children. Similarly to the majority of breeds, they are often good with children. However, not every species of them behave alike.

That situation is favorable where it raised together with children (not toddlers) who already know how to deal with a dog correctly. In this case, they’re really your kid’s greatest friend. However, by Shelties, the nagging or intrusive youngsters aren’t accepted nicely, so to speak.

Furthermore, nearly all Shetland Sheepdog doesn’t evaluate positively the sudden movements or loud noise. So, your task is to teach your children to understand these in order to harmonic cooperation.

I wish to add here that Shelties do very best in households, which are peace-loving without chaos. Of course, I don’t mean under peaceable a life that is lacking exercise plus stimulation.

Sheltie and Other Dog

And this is the point where I answer Diana’s questions, too.

Like other dog breeds, it will be influenced by the individual canine, the traces they originate from, plus the manner they are raised up. Usually, Shelties are fairly friendly with other canines of every breeds. You should keep in mind their huge vitality and sturdy working instincts, as I discussed earlier.

Therefore if you are desirous to take a Sheltie, please understand they would require MORE than simple walks. Shelties develop well when they get a job, whether it be their conventional herding, or modern-day occupation such as agility, fly-ball, freestyle, obedience, rally-o, etc.

So, a Sheltie is incredibly frisky and certainly will wish to play with your little terrier. But, IMHO if you’re unable or unwilling to give routine occupation across the entire lifetime of it, then I recommend you to give up on it.

Diana, to make a Shetland Sheepdog social is highly vital. The species of this breed tend to be easily frightened, and timid. That’s why early socialization and learn about the world extensively (individuals, dogs, sounds, etc.) is essential.

Many successes,

Alex Sparrow

An American Staffordshire Terrier Has Merry Personality

Hi again!

American Staffordshire TerrierMy Friends, recently we traced the history of the American Staffordshire Terrier, from the beginning to the present. Now, we will cope with their appearance and a bit more with their temperament. I keep this section very important due to the widespread misunderstanding that plagues this breed. The negative beliefs – like it is an aggressive dog breed – are often undeserved. (I just note that people judged earlier the Doberman, German Shepherd and Rottweiler similarly.) Although, I can state, hostile dog isn’t born, the people make them so.

Physics of the Amstaff

Having a look at the members of this breed, you can see a muscular and stocky animal. They are showing simple elegance, combining with agility and strength. The Amstaff has a relatively large head, equipped with roundish, powerful muzzles.

This dog has the low-set, round shaped and relatively big eyes. Their ears show a rose figure in natural forms, but the cropped shape is frequent.
They have medium length, brawny neck. The wide sloping shoulder continues with well sprung ribs.

If I watch them from the front, the forelegs seem straight and large boned. The rear legs also are properly muscled. Their foot is compact, intense and well vaulted, and toes are padded enough.

Its elastic gait plus low gravitational center assists this canine stay balanced whereas leaping. And it’s quick enough to avoid a rival’s teeth. Their height is between seventeen – nineteen inches at the withers, so this muscular dog looks even more compact.

Their weight – when they reach their full maturity – is between 24 – 38 pounds (the females are lighter weight).

Coat and Care

The American Staffordshire Terrier appears with a smooth, short and close fitting coat. You may find them in nearly all colors of the rainbow. However, the liver color is unaccepted by the standard. Plus the white color should be under 80% of the whole coat.

Grooming this dog doesn’t cause any headaches for you if it familiarized with that in puppy-hood. If this didn’t happen in time, you may expect some difficulties, for example, when touching its feet. Their fur remains shiny and doable with weekly brushing.

As for the fur-shedding, that’s marginal interim, but amplified when the seasons change. This canine gets well with bathing only few times yearly, despite it doesn’t exude a bad odor. Of course, if s/he was rolling into some unwanted material, you will bathe him/her.

Moreover, developing bad breath may happen with this dog. That’s why I recommend you to pay attention to the mouth hygiene. You will do your best if you brush their teeth once or twice a week. With this action, you can prevent the bacteria causing the bad breath move in.

American Staffordshire Terrier Temperament

The Amstaff is the only one of the bull-type terriers, whose design served the establishment of a working dog. They wanted to get a very balanced nervous system and calm basic nature – besides the undisputed combat-ready nature and extraordinary physique of the ancestors.

That makes the species of the breed still suitable not only work, but also being a great family member. This Terrier is brave, relentless and steadfast, plus it’s always yearning for the heed and liking of their owners. Just as successful in becoming an intrepid protector, the love for the owner also fills their soul.

Relationship With Children

Usually these dogs are mild with kids, however some of them can be dominant and rough-playing with little children. Due to their origin, they have extremely high pain threshold and thick skin. So they use to tolerate even the hair pulling by kids.

I was lucky enough to see as one of these dogs endure everything from children, with one neighbor. Nearly two hours I spent there and experienced that the game was always in the focus with the two six and eight years-old kids around.

As Bernard (the father) said, a good American Staffordshire Terrier shouldn’t be educated to love children. The long line of ancestors has been brought up that character into them. Because basically s/he is a child forever, it even couldn’t live better its playfulness.

Those Amstaffs which grew up in a family with small children like their Garry and Polly, bear themselves as a nanny and guardian angel literally. They are taking pleasure in these tasks really. Moreover, Bernard told me the fact that pedophiles, satyrs, etc. would be better not trying to do with their little owners.

Bernard’s Recommendations

For those who want to get such a dog next to their children, it’s always better to have a child or even an infant at first then vice versa. This of course is generally understood. “We had dogs before and just after the babies arrived, there was no malice resulting from any jealousy.

The reason is simple: we treated the dogs with special attention continuously. But, we drew their attention to respect the rights of the newcomer, already at the start. Every time our children were around in the yard, the dogs could smell and lick their feet and hands.

Of course, the hand and face washing were followed in the bathroom. This way, they accepted our children as family members without difficulty. Nevertheless, I would not recommend leaving them alone, until the child is at least five or six years will not be.”

I’ve to say that I agree with Bernard has been said, completely.

Relationships With Strangers

When I visited the family, the two Amstaff barked at me until Bernard came out to the gate. He gave a command to them softly, and they ceased the barking. They behaved reservedly and I also do the way like someone who didn’t take them into account. (I’ve experience in being calm in such a situation.)

Garry and Polly sniffed my clothes and hands while the owner invited me into the house. Bernard said me they behave similarly with other dogs and pets, too. “They’re real guards in their soul, however, could be pleasant in direction of individuals while their owner is present.”

When you acquire the puppy from a respected breeder with a mild bloodline, this canine won’t be hostile to folks. As they have been developed to fight, and due to their loyalty to their family members, in case the Amstaff senses concerned by one other dog, he could turn into aggressive.

The American Staffordshire Terrier requires to be handled as a member of family, and hardly ever left tied up alone, outdoor. Critical conduct issues and aggression can appear when an Amstaff is lacked of care and left with unloving people.

Required Activity

American Staffordshire Terriers should have exercise to keep up their muscle tone every day. They get pleasure from lengthy strolls plus playing within your yard. Owing to their necessity of active lifestyle, I recommend keeping them in a home having a fenced-in yard with lots of room in order to play to fetch and exercise.

If these canines raised together with other animals, a properly-bred Amstaff does nice. But, it may happen you’re adopting some older animal. Then it is best your household does not keep another pet. Perhaps the lightest nature Staffordshire can assault if invited to a duel by another dog, or if s/he senses his host is in hazard.

Due to the bad reputation on this breed, your insurance policies might not involve an Amstaff. Consequently, you as a possible owner will need to seek the advice of your insurance company earlier than undertaking this type of dog.

Education

I had an opportunity to talk with a trainer who has 23 years experience. He said, in relation to educating, this canine learns rapidly. However, it operates best with such an owner who has the firm hands and consequent mind.

He suggested to apply the positive reinforcement technique in teaching. Namely, the rough handling could result in a situation where the dog will not trust in the trainer. When you see unmanageable Amstaff, one of the reasons can be the harsh treatment.

You need to start to socialize your puppy as early as possible. You should take care on teaching it to be nice to individuals as well as children. These resolute dogs cannot do without training plus a great deal of trust and toleration.

They must be educated and socialized from the beginning. My Friend, just think about please, each well-mannered American Staffordshire Terrier is definitely an amity messenger when it comes to this breed.

Until next time,

Alex Sparrow

Questions and Answers Related Dog Behavior Issues

Hi Dog Folks!

I use to get verbal and email questions from dog owners asking help to fix dog behavior difficulties. Today I’ll answer some here as I think it also would be useful for others, too.

*****

afraid dog behavior

Question: Hickory is our 15-month old dog, and is scared to go for walks out there. What is more, he wants to remain in near our house. And when I want to bring him to walk near roads, he is pulling the leash back at the moment he hears traffic noises. The case is the same with individuals or playing children. Wonder, is there a possibility to overcome his worry? Asking this because I really want him to take pleasure from walks.

Fixing Afraid Dog Behavior

Well, I see from your words that you care about the interests of your dog. Your Hickory’s behavior is a good example of dogs that lacked familiarizing with the outside world. If this isn’t done at the puppy-hood, it can remain a continuous fear which is difficult to fix.

Obviously, the genetic bloodline may play some role. I mean by this that there are breeds, which are more sensible than others. Just think about the Collie or Shepherd types in which the fear overcoming may require a while.

Apart from that, you can achieve success with following a slowly pace. I suggest you to stop encouraging him walking and provide Hickory a week or more time relaxation by not going out there. This is necessary to put to sleep the fear in your dog plus eliminating stress he has developed.

Use the opportunity of this relaxation, and play with him a lot with his preferred toys in your yard where he feels safe. This is also a good period to deepen your relationship. After this, you have to be careful when going to go for walks next. Do not force him to go farther than he intended to.

Having this type of dog behavior it may happen that you have to invest weeks to reach your path or road’s end. Never mind! If you forced your animal to conflict with his awe, you would achieve a deeper imprinting only. And you would find yourself much far from the satisfactory result.

Proceed slowly but surely! When walking together and reaching the point where you perceive Hickory might think is sufficient, you stop and give him a mass of praise. And don’t forget giving a treat he prefers. It’s a plus if you play with him a bit if you see he would be pleased by doing that.

After that you are going to go home together. If you do this, he starts to be convinced of the safety of walking as well as the benefit of getting rewards.

My Friend, I cannot tell you how many time will be necessary to overcoming Hickory’s fear. It may depend on how fast he regains his confidence. You may complement this process with playing noises – he encounters during strolling – from a tape. But, please, proceed only step by step.

Question: Alex, what can we do with our Max (German Shepherd)? He goes to be mad within the car. You cannot imagine how he is screaming and whining during walking up and down behind us. This can be very annoying after a while, and we aren’t successful in calming him down. I would like to hear your opinion about applying harness in the car? Or, can you suggest any other expedient solution we could use?

Safety Harness In Car

dog in car

My Friend, applying safety harness in your car might be an adequate solution. With using it, you can prevent Max injuring himself or you in the case of sudden breaking or accident. However, it is conceivable that the root of this dog behavior is findable another place.

It would be useful to explore the reasons in the first place, why Max does this? Namely, there may be more options in this case. Max could be having a phobia of being inside your car. Next possibility can be that he feels thrilled by thinking the walk awaits him.

Furthermore, chances are he thinks to the prospecting chasing opportunity. Alternatively, Max simply wants to get your heed. Either of these can be the reason of his conduct.

I’d say you to experiment with a few things to know, which works. For example, it may be successful to put him into a proper-sized, fixed cage and cover that with a blanket. During several longer journeys, you can observe if he calmed down by doing that. If Max calms down by this, then you’ll know you cured a chasing issue.

Anyway, if the case is that he worries in the car I suggest you to read my article about overcoming this fear. I recommend you to get him accustomed by short trips, as I wrote there.

Furthermore, if the excitement is the problem, you can cure that with bringing him to unexciting trips or strolling some distance from home.

Question: We have a Collie and Doberman mix. Buddy is three years and seven months old, and suffered an assault one and a half years ago. It was a turnaround for him, because he was amicable to other dogs before that. Since then he gradually turned into aggressive with new dogs he encounters, although Buddy is friendly with those animals, he knew before that point. What do you think this dog behavior how could be changed?

Getting Back Friendly Conduct

My Friend, he needs to develop his trust in other canines again, in my opinion. Which complicates the matter is that long times have passed since the affair. That’s why I recommend you seek for a local professional to assist you solve the situation on a safe manner.

I suggest you to ask recommendation from your vet related reliable behaviorist. Another option you can try is to connect the Association of Pet Behavior Counselors for advice. The selected behaviorist could set up a treatment program you must follow.

Namely, your Buddy should learn by experiences that unfamiliar canines don’t pose a threat or assault him.

In the meantime, you should strive to avoid meeting with unknown dogs. Otherwise, his feeling that they are going to attack, and he had to defend himself is strengthened. Besides, your Buddy shows up himself for other canines as a counterpart with whom making friendship is impossible.

Needless to say that if that comes out, treating the existing problem will be much harder. The fixing process certainly contains gentle techniques educating your pet to switching from aggressive dog behavior to more sociable attitude towards his counterparts.

Ensure Your Child and New Puppy Having a Great Start

Hi Dog Folks!

girl with a new puppyMy Friend, imagine, as a child learns – slowly but surely – the world isn’t just about him or her. S/he experiences their parents’ love as well as the other living being around in the household. Probably, so it was even when you were little and a new puppy arrived to your home. And if we are at this point, the question comes into mind: Why is it that we think back to our childhood dogs with such a deep bond? And, whether these childhood experiences define our adult selves, too?

Forming Child – Dog Relationship

Research shows that such an intimate dog-child relationship contributes to the overall intensity of feeling and the healthy development of self-awareness. Today’s fast-paced world often means we’re living between completely artificial conditions. And, in this we are separated from our pure original selves.

The dogs and other pets may give us chance to indulge our bond with the nature. These caring, animal – human relationships are particularly important in the early and middle stages of our childhood. Several studies support the idea that majority of people are inherently tied to the dogs.

When you see your child and your new puppy is playing together gladly, you cannot compare that feeling to anything. And you couldn’t help but think back to the first dog in your life. This is natural, totally, according to research as well as my experiences.

As the psychological studies demonstrated, individuals – who were lucky to grow up together with a canine of the household – are going to have a more gladsome childhood. And these experiences have positive effects on their adult attitudes.

Children who develop within such circumstances learn to feel esteem toward different living beings. They won’t be lacked in empathy and sympathy later, besides become competent in providing care to others. Additionally they acquire self-assurance and self-esteem by figuring out they’re promoting the caring for humans and other creatures.

Your Aid Is Necessary

Moreover, through the playing with the new puppy contributes to appropriate, healthy physical development of your child. Spiritual development also benefits from it to the extent that the dog means a company of children and safety, solace in many cases.

Suchlike advantages and learning experiences happen not automatically between kids and dogs. An accountable and patient grownup is necessary to introduce correctly the kid to the new pooch. Furthermore, the adult should educate the child methods to connect to this amazing participant in the household.

Simultaneously, the little fur ball is required to learn to obey and respect the kid. That should go in a similar way as s/he respects and obeys the other family members. This manner, an affectionate relationship could be developed between every family member.

The style in which you might approach your new puppy is vital. So are the experiences you simply give him from its initial second in your home. These are forming a long-lasting influence during its remaining life.

From the primary debut, your son or daughter ought to acquire the optimal manner to coping with the puppy. Your kid should have to understand that your pet is a newborn. Consequently, it must be handled that way.

Prevent Injury Between Your Child and the New Puppy

Kids – who are living around their seven years or below – hold the predisposition of getting excited by encountering new experiences. This thrill generally is far from ideal in the aspect of the puppy or whatever older canine at the first contact.

Just think about it, this type of behavior manifests itself in what? The thrilled conduct similar to making loud clamors, chasing the pup, nagging along with another violent handling will end in your little canine becoming frightened.

Chances are big that s/he will run away and by any means s/he doesn’t let your kid to pet it. Furthermore, a very fresh pooch strives to seek out its mother dog for hiding from your kid. Moreover, the young canine could recognize your kid’s action as a threat.

So it’s no wonder that your fur ball is trying to defend itself by leaping up or biting.

Summary

The appropriate manner of introducing your new canine to your son or daughter is through guidance and limitation. Your kid should know the little doggie is a baby and knowing that your kid must be mild when coping with him. For educating your young ones the ways to become gentle you can utilize a stuffed animal and instruct him or her methods to pet it adequately.

I also used this method when my son met a dog first time and didn’t regret it. Do this with your kid as many time as necessary prior to a new puppy appears in your home. Lots of playing options, happiness can be a source of dog keeping, and has been shown in the attachment; the promotes the feeling of love in children.

Is It Possible Your Dog Is Sleeping Through the Night?

Hi Folks!

your dog sleeps all nightA young woman asked me this: “Alex, does your dog sleeping through all night? Imagine, we expected a dog as a gift some day recently. As the exact day and hour were unfixed, we forgot about it and bought a ticket for a night movie. However, at that afternoon we received Charlie, the 16 weeks’ male pup. I became so excited that phoned hubby to tell him the good news. During the first hours of mutual familiarization, I showed him the whole apartment and his dedicated sleeping location in a separate room.

He followed me everywhere, sniffed all thinkable places and things. Of course, the movie program got deleted, cause I hadn’t the heart to leave him alone. The problem started when we went to bed to sleep. Charlie started to bark after we left him in his room. I got up, went over to him, then he stopped barking. I petted him a bit and went back to my bed. Guess what happened? Charlie started the barking again. We didn’t sleep that night. And, since then we cannot relax ourselves. Alex, we love this doggie but would like to rest, too. What can we do?”

I’m not surprised on this affair, because I heard similar so far. And if you imagine the described situation probably you also can relate. After all, this could be funny in the “Lady and thе Tramp” movie. But, in reality, if your dog barks continuously rather sleeping, that’s quite annoying. Isn’t there a solution to this?

Let’s think about it together. It could be totally irritating for you to hear your canine is barking instead of sleeping. You may wonder what’s the reason behind this behavior. And it’s possible that you hardly ever thought some simple aspect of. Consequently, it will not harm if you read further to know the steps recommended in this case.

Environment Change

Young dogs, left their familiar environment and found themselves with unfamiliar people in strange place can produce this situation easily. I confess I can sleep well in my own bed with the known circumstances only. It’s no different with dogs either. They prefer things to settle the way those are, in the usual arrangement, always.

So, I’d suggest you to think about what you changed in their order. Perhaps, you changed the dog’s sleeping place or bedding. Alternatively, the crate isn’t there than before. You may don’t pay attention to that, but it could affect the rest of your Fido.

When you take your dog to bed, be certain that the resting space is very cozy for him. Apply tender bedding, which s/he perceives comforting. Now I say a strange; a puppy will be asleep faster if you insert a small clock making rhythmic beat below the blanket.

Just remember you don’t change something in the space and / or bedding on which s/he will sleep. Every changing probably has bothered their ordinary sleeping and can trigger insomnia, with all that entails.

Feeding Routine of Your Dog

My Friend, just think about what happens when you’re eating a dinner, and then go to bed. In all certainty, you’ll toss and turn in bed and cannot sleep. The same applies to dogs as well. That’s why it’s imperative that you organize your canine’s feeding schedule properly.

Each time your pooch consumes its meals, s/he will get an abrupt energy that makes hyperactivity in dogs. Moreover, if that energy flows through their digestive system, it’s going to eliminate the sleep. The best you can do is to feed your dog no less than a few hours before his bedtime. Doing that you give chance for the foodstuffs are properly digested.

One more reason exists why you mustn’t feed s/he directly before bed. That’s not other than that s/he will need to do his toilet affairs in odd hours during the night. That is one of the most crucial and frequently overlooked facts you should pay attention.

The Role of Exercising

I’ll stick to the human analogy again. I could imagine that you’re tired when you go home after an exhausting workday. And you feel that you prefer fooled into bed immediately. And if you do that, you will be asleep in no time.

What about your dog? If s/he is not tired, s/he will not sleep. And s/he also will not be sleepy at night if s/he slept itself afternoon or evening. The medicine in this case is to make your furry-friend really drained earlier than bedtime.

You can make sure a good night’s sleep for yourself if s/he works out its energy. So, making a hearty walking after eating helps the process of digesting plus s/he will really be tired and quit into a deep sleeping. And this walk is not bad for you either.

Potty Training

It’s extremely essential that you do the potty training for your animal properly. Furthermore, you have to comprehend your dog is required to do its business repeatedly a night. That’s mainly happened if your canine is a puppy yet. The best way to follow is to make an agenda for yourself.

Set your alarm for every two – three hours during the night and take it out for that purpose. I recommend you don’t await s/he to begin yelping and barking, just take it outdoor. It will solely serve to strengthen the association of when s/he barks; you’ll arrive to the rescue.

Namely, that can be a hassle later for you. When s/he has gotten older, bring it out some time earlier than bedtime. That must be comfy and enough when s/he goes to sleep.

Training, Training

My Friend, I not became a parrot during this writing. But, I’ve to repeat this. Namely, it may happen that in your plan your doggie sleeps in another room or a crate. Apart from this, your canine might have another notion.

So place yourself on the same side. You have to practice your canine to grasp that. Teach him or her on commands such as ‘sit’ plus ‘stay’ in order that s/he is aware of when it is necessary to go to bed. Additionally, don’t ever let him or her enter into the behavior of barking / yelling after which you continuing to open the door.

S/he will associate the 2 after which s/he pursues to do the same thing every time s/he feels like that. That’s the reason why you should invest time to make a correct schedule. This consists of a proper potty training more than anything else.

My Friend, now you have some suggestions on raising a sleeping through the night dog. I hope, you will be prepared better to coping with the arising case. Please, don’t be overly concerned about it. Simply be patient and your dog will let you to rest through the night in the future.

Until next time,

Exercise for Dogs Results Mental Plus Bodily Health

Greetings!

exercise for dogsMy Friends, I’m pleasured that we got together again! I’ve no doubt you heard how the exercise for dogs is necessary. This isn’t altered by the fact that you often have to clean your animals after walks. For example, yesterday was a rainy day here. Lisa and Zizi preferred to roam up and down and not particularly cared to avoid becoming muddy. Just imagine, the rain is coming from the top, the mud from the bottom. But, no one can describe the joy as they dive into these.

Exercising for Humans

Of course, beyond the joy caused for them, walking with dogs has other benefits. Just think about ourselves, with humans, the advantage of exercise has been confirmed from time to time. The motion performs a vital role within the balanced lifestyle.

The exercise is a great way to get rid of the stress. Thirty – forty minutes or more physical activity strengthens the heart. Furthermore, it improves the use of oxygen by our body. In short, by the help of exercising, we gain a more efficient ‘machinery’.

Most of us have heard positive effects of emotional, physical and psychological influence on our state as well. So far so good. However let’s think about our dog buddies. Is it a useless thing to discuss the advantages of exercise for dogs?

Effects on Dogs

Might it be sufficient for simply nourish them correctly and provide them a walk occasionally? Are you aware of your canine turn into inactive, boring, and obese if s/he is restricted within your home for lengthy time period?

Aside from that, he also might formulate some kind of behavioral drawback. The initial extreme barking or chewing – leaving untreated – may lead to a behavioral drawback. I am sure that you don’t want to grow an aggressive dog and bear the consequences.

Due to this fact, exercise is not solely necessary because it retains your family dog pleased. Moreover, it’s critical to your animal’s bodily well-being, plus his or her psychological health. Physical activity can also be a wonderful strategy for you to deepen the bond between booth of you.

Exercising also means enjoying quality time with your furry friend. Additionally, the common motion with him or her can be a significant advantage for you to remain active. You will be fit by that routine and make your heart working.

Suffice it to say, the exercise can be considered an activity which benefits your pet and you. Not to mention that’s part of the pleasure of becoming a loving canine owner.

Walking – Exercise for Dogs

An easy (and FREE) exercise that both, you and your animal can take advantage, is walking. Your furry pal request train day by day, and strolling is a superb activity you and your favorite could perform. The frequent, mild moving of walking aids you and your canine in all sorts of ways.

It tones your muscular tissues, supplies oxygen for your heart, plus your lungs are also benefits from that motion. I’d recommend if your canine isn’t accustomed to strolling or seems to be obese, begin with a brief 15-minute walk. Then, you gradually increase the tempo while s/he will get adjusted to it.

I hope you’re the kind of individual who likes simply to go out for getting a walk and really feel the freshly breathing. In this case, an exercise for dogs, a one or two-mile stroll daily is all required to maintain them fit. And possibly even more if you’re up for the shake of the challenge.

And your four-legged friend will definitely find it irresistible, particularly when s/he is filled with energy. Obviously, it may happen that your time is tailored tightly. Alternatively, a two-mile strolling – for some reason – is not your cup of tee. Then, your doggie will be satisfied with two/three times short walks around your block.

What’s the Right Amount

I’d add that the amount I recommended in the previous paragraph will be not enough to all dogs. But, how can we determine how much exercise is enough? Research in addition to experience have indicated that canines which get sufficient exercise are more jolly and healthy. Plus, they are more social while being in public areas.

If canines receiving frequent exercise, they tend to be calmer at dwelling as well as less stressed home alone. Even so, similar to feeding, deciding on the proper amount of training to your pet is relied upon some factors. I mean by this the age, size plus the breed type.

For proper muscle development, the puppies request every day exercise. Their vivacity and overall energy levels should be released in certain type of useful motion. Furthermore, providing them exercises each day is the great steps to take it.

Being unable to burn their power can lead to harmful conduct. As for the aging animals, their energy level is lower, so as their requirement for exercise.

Big canines don’t require an extra exercise inevitably than small doggies. Lots of big breeds – such as the Great Dane – relax on the porch all day long, then go outdoor and get a two mile run.

Even so, additionally they want their every day exercise, maybe a couple of hours strolling. Alternatively, for example, the Chihuahua carries on going even with a 3-mile walk similarly to various small breeds.

Your family dog’s breed can also be key issue of the volume of exercise necessity. As an illustration, canines which were initially bred to herd like the Border Collie must exercise every day. And this applies to the hunting and sleds pulling dog breeds as well. And hence, exercise for dogs like these every day is inevitable.

Using These Tips Help Fix Disobedient Dog Problems

Hi Dog Lover Folks!

disobedient dogMy Friends, please, let me to begin with a definition created by myself: to be a good dog owner is a nice but responsible task. This always comes to mind when I hear people complain about the so-called ‘disobedient dog’. Of course, a dog may cause headaches for the owner; so many problems may arise in the life of a family. And this should not be taken lightly, for the shake of ourselves and our dogs either. Let’s look at the reasons firstly.

The Source of the Problems

My Friend, in many cases the disobedience is not the dog’s fault. Namely, the host’s task is to educate their canine. The dog is inherently subject to the hierarchical relationship. Dogs are pack animals, and as such; they carry in their instincts that a pack leader should be there, otherwise the group is doomed.

Ideally, your dog will not take over the alpha’s role. But, if s/he senses that you not lead the pack appropriately, then s/he felt the urge being a leader in order to maintain the flock. Consequently, you will face that s/he acts as a leader, as s/he sees the future of the pack secured that way.

The occupied place in the hierarchy is a very important factor. The farther away from us the dog is in the ranking (behind us, of course), the more s/he obeys. And this is instinct, too, and doesn’t depend on intellectual abilities. Moreover, a dog can read you like a book.

In my experience, as smarter the dog is, as more want to be a leader. S/he realizes that what you think is serious or just played. So if you want to make your dog to accept you as a leader, you need to be very firm and consequent. It’s a big mistake if you treated a dog as a child because he is a DOG.

Treating a Disobedient Dog

First, it is advisable even from puppy age to teach your dog the basics. For example, s/he should understand its name and the main commands. That’s because s/he will perform the tasks in the future on that basis. All of these are not complicated, if you are consistent.

In my experience, the consistency is the most important in the educational process. This is important because the dogs – due to their very nature – often look for loopholes to make their own decisions. But, if you are conscious, you should always abide to the rules.

So what you once prohibited for the dog, do not allow that him or her next time. By doing that way your animal can keep itself to the rules.

If we started the education in its puppy-hood, we can avoid s/he turned into naughty. But, if you realize later only that your dog is unruly, you shouldn’t be despaired. Namely, you can take your favorite to a dog school where the trainers take care of a disobedient dog.

You’ll Also Learn

You might think that after the training, the dog will only listen to the trainer, but it is not so. Once the dogs have learned the basics, the presence of the host is essential. That’s because from that time you, the owner will be the student.

The trainer will teach you the proven commands that your dog is obeyed. Namely, the point is the way as you give commands.

Of course, the dog school is not necessarily the cheapest method. But, even this is not a cause for concern, as we can start educating our unruly canine.

In such cases, there is no place for a fairy tale, it is necessary to clarify the boundaries. If s/he doesn’t behave the way, you want, then do not pay attention to it, so even some punishing can take place. Obviously, this doesn’t mean physical abuse, but a penalty from which s/he can learn.

For example, if your disobedient dog doesn’t let you on the couch, you simply have to put it outside from the room. You need to continue this “penalty” until s/he learned that the couch is not his or her possession. You should pay attention to that s/he learns their location within the family.

My Recommendations

* Teach your furry friend within your yard or home, since these would be secure, handy places. Keep away from training your animal the place where lots of individuals are present. This could cause your doggie getting distracted, and that may make the education virtually impossible.

* Ensure you train each the animal’s body and mind as well. Educate him or her different tricks s/he is capable of doing at your house. For example, train it to grabbing the newspaper. That way, you’ll be maintaining him or her stimulated mentally.

This type of playing will keep your pet feel that a contributing participant in your household. Moreover, it will retain his psychological performing at a top grade.

* If your favorite isn’t pleased or feels lonely, despite has enough toys, think about getting another canine. It was good for me many times. Canines originate from packs, which means that it’s their nature to favor passing time with a counterpart.

But, please, purchase another doggie only that’s the identical levels of energy and personality. That way, you’ll be certain to discover one thing your animal would appreciate!

* Consider the neutering or spaying of your dog. Ever since I gave up the breeding, each of our dog underwent this surgery. A neutered canine usually living longer and don’t have as many hazards of growing cancer. Furthermore, they are more prone to stay near home, decreasing their threat of becoming misplaced or getting wounded by another animal or a vehicle.

* An important thing is you always praise your dog when s/he is performing the requested task. You will motivate him or her by doing so. The motivation is necessary, because your dog will know how to behave. After all, s/he knows exactly when it behaves well it will get a reward. In fact, the most important thing is to be aware that we are responsible for our disobedient dog. Because, if we accepted it into our family, we have to deal with it.
