Announcement, and Adopted Dog Returned

Dear All,

I’ll discuss today about an adopted dog someone took home and returned it back after a week. But, before that I’d like to make an announcement.

Well, we are all witnessed as 2013 says farewell to us. Can you believe it? I know you’re probably thinking ahead to what you can do in 2014 to make it your best year ever, right? I admit, that’s what I’m doing.

But, we are not beyond the Christmas and year-end festive period yet. In the coming days, I look back on time elapsed from the start of this site. And I also prepare the plan for 2014. Naturally, I spend Christmas with my family.

Thinking about my readers who subscribed so far I prepare a report, the topic is dog related of course. Hoping I’ll be able to send you that by the end of this year. The preparations are underway.

And I want to say to you “Thank You” for your support, questions, or suggestions I got this year. I hope I can count on your activity in the next year as well. I’ll do my best to achieve that.

An Adopted Dog Returned

And now, let’s go to the today’s topic. I anticipate that this story was in the news recently, and I felt inclined to write about an adopted dog returned.

Imagine a singer who is pet friendly person and loves the dogs. He was falling in love with a dog from the supply of a rescue foundation, and gladly took it his home. This is nothing special so far; it could happen to any animal loving people.

He renamed the canine from B to C. It was a good dog and was guarding the house well. But, it seems that the animal didn’t want to accept anyone only the singer in question.

As he said: “We liked him very much; C is really a very nice, good dog and a fine watchdog too. C was in our household for a few days when I left my home, and my wife wanted to give him food. But, she still not reached a bowl, and a dog growled and behaved as if he wanted to attack her.”

“I also wanted to introduce my 15-month-old son to him as well to acquaint themselves. Because C was heard the voice of my son from inside only so far. But, unfortunately, C’s behavior was threatening toward my son too. So I decided not to take any risk and discard the dog for family safety.”

Apart from that, the singer didn’t stop to think that the family expanded with an adopted dog. But, he says he is trying to find carefully the matching dog next time.

“Maybe a puppy would be better from the point of view that it could grow together with the child. For this moment, we are not planning another adoption, because this parting of a dog pretty worn us. A dog is not like a pair of pants that’s replaceable by man…”– added the singer.

The said dog is waiting for his loving new owner again at the rescue foundation presently. One of the members of the foundation said that this canine is a really lovable creature. They are looking for him a definitely strong, competent hand.

“This dog is a five years old, very smart, amiable animal, a true watchdog. We recommend him to a family safely, but in any case, he needs a host who is experienced, knowledgeable, and the dog doesn’t think after a day that he is the pack leader. I’m puzzled that he entered being offensive, because that isn’t his attribute at all. In any event, he is also looking forward to his final master.” – says Clare.

adopted-dog-returned“B is a very kind, sociable, truly charismatic dog, is walking nicely on a leash. He is an excellent watchdog and playmate as well. He requires the love and the occupation with him. It’s spayed, vaccinated, equipped with a chip and now is waiting for the final, responsible owner. After a week-long “guest performance,” B has been returned to us again. We brought him back, although we are sure that it would have been a great fan for the family, additionally an excellent watchdog.”

So far the story. The Noteworthy Lessons:

* As I mentioned in one of my other articles, I worked in a dog shelter as a volunteer. Sadly, the majority of the canines in shelters are located there as they had been the subject of inconsiderate buying. Specifically, certain family member or adult individuals rush to adopt a dog, although they neglected to ponder what keeping a dog involves.

I use to examine the circumstances and members in our family, and myself in addition to my time accessible and select accordingly. I’d say, to find a dog is just your first task, however, a really important one. You have to be believed strongly that you, and the animal will probably be the right match to one another. You have to be certain that your household will be the suitable home for that chosen canine.

* Avoid taking home any dog immediately from a sudden “love.” Dependent on their outer traits only you may make a false decision. Namely, their entire character and temperament might stay hidden for you at that minute.

To be aware of these completely you have to be in everyday interaction with the chosen dog. In order to uncover the correct fellow in one another requires time, similar to a great marriage. I use to take to walk the chosen animal three – four times to experience their behavior.

That is indispensable for the basic cognition, then I decide to take it or leave it.

* Your task is to prepare yourself and your family members to the arriving of your chosen animal. I use to make notices when I heard the information the rescue organization staff announces. This information I give to my family, after all, we all will live together with the dog.

It’s advisable that your spouse and kids are aware who is the newcomer. Furthermore, some dog keeping experience also is useful when you intend to take an adult dog having unknown experiences. Dogs in similar age might have entrenched habits you have to be able to handle as a pack leader.

* It’s advisable not to monopolize the dog for yourself. Dogs rehomed in new circumstances require time to understand the family members. And you should accustom the dog to accept food and drink from others from your family. By hand feeding some food your dog (under supervision) will know the smell of that person, that helps in the accepting.

Furthermore, the jealousy related their food, bone or toy is a normal practice for dogs. Of course, with love, patience and persistence you can cease that conduct after a time. And teach your family member to forget anxiety when dealing with. The dog might sense your fear and can be growl or attack.

* Lastly, but not last, older animals don’t like to share their owner’s attention, and love. It occurs many times that these dogs become a so called “one owner only” dogs. Having said that, we have arrived again to the point that we should get to know all info about the dog before we’re taking him home.

Introducing Your Baby To a Dog is not as simple as showing to your cat. When you are ready to present the baby to your dog, please consider the following tips:

Ask someone to hold the dog leash while you take place in a chair with your child into your arms. Put your hand on the baby’s head. (This gesture shows the protection of your baby and at the same time prevents it from being bitten by the dog.)

Do not place the baby on the floor and never hold over the dog’s head, because doing that you compel the dog to jump.

Use a balanced, calm tone when talking to your dog, and sometimes caress him, to feel safe in itself.

If you don’t perceive any aggressive behavior such as growling or tail downward, slowly afford for him to take a closer look at the baby – but do not lick it. The licking is unhealthy might serve as a prelude of biting.

Make sure that your dog’s leash tight enough to be pulled back if necessary. If your dog shows any negative behaviors, answer to him a definite “NO” and command him to move away or drop out of the room. If he listens to your command and goes off independently, reward it.

Even if all goes “smooth,” it is recommended to keep the dog on a leash whenever it is approaching the child, at least the first three weeks still you manage to study his behavior.

Can Your Dog’s Cost Be Lower?3

My dog lover Friends, this is the third part in the row of saving money on our dogs. The first part covered the Choosing the Dog to Fit Our Budget and Saving Options on Dog Food. The Low-Cost Treats, Savings on Grooming and Affordable Pet Sitters were the topics in the second installment. Now, I’m dealing with the vet expenses, the serious part of costs of dog keeping which also can be reduced.

By way of introduction, I’m much less inclined to visit our vet for minor issues until natural remedies last. This is possible because of two things: partly, I perform daily checks related to dogs’ healthy status. On the other hand, during my long dog keeping experience, I’ve learned a thing or two. So, I can perceive the possible symptoms in time and administer home remedies on my own.

Even so, I still fed my dogs according to my dog feeding method, and have Dog Insurance coverage, for all eventualities. I sustain heartworm, tick and flea prevention and provide Zizi and Lisa plenty of attention. Due to these, our dogs are healthy, amazing household dogs and show true connection toward us.

Acting In Time Is Cheaper

daily-checkingThe daily checking is important also from that aspect that it’s much easier to treat something at the beginning than later. Imagine, for some reason, you postpone checking and care until a scenario worsens. This is harshness towards your animal, but we are talking about the cost now. What do you think how much will it cost you?

It can be predictable that you’ll very likely pay a great deal for vet care. Namely, an emergency veterinary care, specifically, could cost many times more than a common office visit. And it really is usually a last option once your canine gets sick throughout Sunday when local vet facilities could be closed.

It pays to think ahead a little as well. For example, to prevent problems in winter, I use to apply Shea butter (useable in foods and cosmetics) on Zizi’s nose and paws.

Seek Actions In Vet Clinics

There are vet clinics where you can get low-cost spay and neuter care on a first-come-first-serve principle. The staffs of these clinics are often vet technicians, so they are proficient but not physicians. Consequently, they don’t substitute an appointment which entails more sophisticated knowledge.

For example, my neighbor could find her dog’s annual vaccines for $25, and neuter for approx $55. The local animal shelter also may offer services on a lower fee then a non-public vet. To get info related to this the ASPCA website is definitely a useful source.

Free Vet Clinics

You may furthermore find smaller spay-neuter non-profit organization whose mission is usually to make this service accessible to almost everybody. You can search on the Internet for ‘low price spaying/neutering’ to view what’s domestically attainable for you.

You also can consult with the local Humane Society for low-cost or free of charge spay/neuter packages and reduced-price shot clinics. Say, you’ve four canines. You can get vaccinated them for what it will cost for one on your vet’s office.

Some even provide vouchers to aid with veterinarian expenses for individuals in need. Alternatively, they can offer info on other companies that are able to help you.

In case you can document unemployment or any monetary difficulty, a few of them provide this service free of charge. Moreover, at free clinics, you can obtain rabies vaccination and micro chipping for your dogs for only $10 compared to the common $35-50.

Other Helping Organizations

Converse with your veterinarian in the event you’re fighting your vet expenses. Many vet clinics are driven to establish payment plans. And a few even run donated funds put aside to assist dog owners who struggle.

You also can consult with your canine’s breed organization. Some dog clubs nationwide establish funds offered to help with veterinary expenses.

Another possibility is to look for charities that provide aid for pet owners. For instance, on the website of the Humane Society of the United States, there is a page with dedication to assist you in finding financial help and a collection of cash-saving guidelines for animal lovers.

Reducing Vaccinations

Limiting the vaccinations also can be a solution. When you vaccinate your puppy yearly, take time to read up on the risks that could reach by over-vaccination.

In reality, many vet faculties are actually teaching that vaccinating each years is a lot. And quite a few holistic specialists believe that pup shots could provide life-time coverage.

Medicaments’ Prices

prescribed-drugThe costs for prescribed drugs diverge extensively between different pharmacies. Namely, the U.S. drug pricing is neither fastened nor regulated. The price of a prescription might be varied by greater than $100 between two pharmacies around the corner from one another!

In case you’re without insurance, it is simple to get a favorable price. Whereas costs for many medicines at pharmacies are huge for an uninsured person, there are ways to gain up to eighty percent discount. There are available coupons, financial saving tips, manufacturer or pharmacy reductions, low-cost alternative medication, or simply inquiring for a better price.

You just use GoodRx’s drug price search to make a price comparison – similar to you do for electronics or travel on other websites. And you’ll find your medication at pharmacies close to your living area. This website don’t promote the drugs; they let you know where you are able to get the best deal on medicines.

GoodRx is showing you costs, coupons, reductions and savings suggestions on your medicaments at pharmacies near you. Here’s their website: http://www.goodrx.com/

Pet Insurance

Knowledgeable opinions fluctuate on whether or not an insurance for a pet is a wise funding. That’s because many insurance plans include protection maximums and restrict coverage for hereditary circumstances or problems ordinary to your dog’s breed.

But, the proper insurance plan for a pet may mitigate the financial blow of unexpected medical emergencies. You just make absolutely certain to look around and browse the fine print before choosing your variation.

When you’ve got a family dog develop an expertise to be involved into a hassle, the pet insurance could be significantly helpful for you.

Conclusion

My Friend, do not forget that apart from bills, your family dog is definitely serving to you during this troublesome time. Simply coping with, strolling and petting your canine or puppy can decrease arterial pressure and relieve stress, making your doggie your unique, in-home, four-legged physician. He is less expensive than any therapy (if you consider), isn’t it?

Considering Your Dog Grooming Needs

Hi Everyone!

Before we discuss about the dog grooming needs of your pet, I’ll mention our daily actions.  I’m in a good mood because we have a new family member. At the day before yesterday, I got a German Shepherd mix puppy from a local rescue organization. The introducing the newcomer to Zizi went quite smoothly; she accepted Lisa (the puppy) instantly. (That’s meant if your dog trusts you, I believe.) Lisa gradually became acquainted with other members of my family. She has mapped out her new living space, which will be the two of them thereafter. But, let’s get to your dog’s grooming needs.

Due to the rainy weather, the soil soaked up, so the paws’ cleaning and dog bathing followed our walking with Zizi today. I took away the mud from her toes and also examined them for possibly injury. The next step of dog grooming was to comb her hair and bathe the ‘lady’ full. I rubbed her coat thoroughly by towel and ended the canine grooming process with a hair dryer. I found she is also preparing for the winter and grows her hair anyway.

I’m lucky enough with her coat. Given that she is a Labrador and German Shepherd mix, she requires only simple maintenance, like hair brushing. Anyway, the dog grooming seems like an art for beginner dog owners as I experienced. And it really can be an art if you go from primary canine care to virtually spa-like coddling.

Grooming Requirements of Different Coat Types

Before going any further, you’ve to accept that dog grooming isn’t merely an indulgence. Rather it’s an unavoidable necessity. Your doggie which doesn’t get correct grooming on a timely method is susceptible for gingivitis, sickness, parasites and harm to skin and fur equally.

The fundamental grooming necessities determined by your dog’s breed as well as his / her characteristics. Based on those, your dog’s hair can be short, long, straight, wavy, silky, coarse, and combinations thereof, too. And you, as a pet owner, will handle the canine hair in beginning.

komondor-dog-grooming-needs-are-frequent

A Komondor Dog Grooming Needs Are Frequent

Lengthy haired canines that shed are required grooming more often than short coated fellows or those that solely shed periodically. Those dogs equipped with frizzy or curly hair want day by day care to remain detangled and take away particles or foliage. Namely, that will be caught within the coat as your animal is walking or exercising outside.

Hiring Dog Grooming Professionals

And do not deny, but bringing your family dog to a professional groomer on the weekly basis may be costly. Obviously, if you want to bring your favorite to dog shows, then you should take the expenses involved. And, if you’d like to give the best for your furry friend, you may also rent mobile dog groomers.

Those people are operating a complete grooming station within their vans. These professionals are parking in your driveway and perform the whole grooming process onboard. This is a superb comfort and avoids the “moist dog” odor lingering within your bathroom. To economize, it’s also possible doing most of the primary dog grooming methods yourself if you learn those.

Dog Grooming on Your Own

Of course, your four-legged mate might not be thrilled about receiving bathing, but that shouldn’t limit you. Bathing is definitely a well being concern for pets similar to how it is due to people. You will not cease to bathing your toddler simply because she shrieks at tub time, will you?

If you’re uncertain about the proper techniques doing brushing, de-tangling and bathing your pet’s coat, look for the best online resource. Alternatively, you can possibly ask for watching the elements of dog grooming at a groomer. You might also take a course from a vet’s workplace or a pet retailer.

Those classes help you to get familiar with the proper techniques. Additionally, you can obtain some professional recommendations on how to handle your family dog’s nervousness or fears throughout grooming process.

WARNING! The skin underneath of your canine’s fur could be sensitive extremely. So, keep away from aggressive scrubbing when bathing your animal. Otherwise, you w’ll be able to remove excessive body oils that defend skin and fur follicles equally.

I Use To Do It This Way

I use to avoid shampoo, scents or powder and alike, which isn’t designed for apply with canines. Applying those is doing more harm than good as well as an unnecessary vet bill. Namely, those products may cause infection or irritation in your dog’s skin.

Thus, if some product isn’t dedicated for my dog or her fur, then I never use that. Certainly, you’re understand the importance of being patient during grooming. I always take time to speak fondly to my dog and rub her belly or shoulder.

These contribute to develop a joyful feeling and quality dog grooming process. For instance, if I’m impatient, then I don’t even begin this operation. My canine would be difficult to manage if she discovered my impatience.

Dog Grooming Tools

Dog's-grooming-toolsOf course, to reach success in grooming requires correct tools. Please, don’t use the outdated hairbrush of your family in your canine. Acquire particular combs and brushes that are designed for your pet’s fur. You’ll not lower your expenses using your throw-away when you injure your dog’s skin with those.

I believe, your dog doesn’t miss the pain (you might cause), and also you a high veterinary bill. Apart from that, you would possibly save some cash by bringing your dog to a groomer monthly or bi-weekly. For example, you’re able to do plain hair brushing or deal with the bath every two weeks (if necessary).

Conclusion

When your dog friend spends the majority of its time open air, you continuously need to do primary grooming. Without cleanliness, your family dog can be subject to different parasite colonization, which may give him a hard time. The dog grooming is a necessary part of keeping up with your dog’s health as well. His or her good looks and your peace of mind deserves that.

Is Context Between Dog’s Health and Water?

When it comes to the water’s role in health, we know that no live organism can exist, operate without water. That’s how it is, an instance of that is that the water is the main component of the human body. An adult human’s body contains around 60-70% water. For example, if one weights 176 pounds, his body contains about 14,3 gal water. Well, you may find similar rates in our dogs, too. So, there is a straight context between dog’s health and the water.

Water Needs

dog-drinks-waterAs researchers have shown, your family dog’s physique comprises around of 70% water. By losing all the fats and 50% of protein of its body has less impact than he cannot get water for two days or more. It can be fatal for him if the water in your canine’s body is reduced to one tenth.

With a view to survive, an adult canine requires – at a minimum – two milliliters of water projected to each pound weight daily. That’s when considering 1 ounce contains 30 milliliters of water. However, that two milliliters are only enough for your animal to produce urine within his body.

Importance of Water

Without sufficient water vital for urine providing, your family dog or whatever canine won’t be able to live. When you are providing an infinite amount of water, your canine will consume a lot more than that two millimeters required. That is particularly true if you always provide fresh water to him.

Handing your doggie merely the smallest amount of water each day could also be sufficient for him to outlive, although not for long. Shortage in water injures the system and terminates its functions progressively. He’ll ultimately become weak, come down with a disease, and decease.

Water Utilizing Ways In Dog’s Body

The advantage of providing your family dog enough water compared to the smallest amount wanted is that its system can use that multi-mode (just like in humans).

1) The water facilitates the digesting and the process of taking nutrients from the food.

2) Our dog’s system is using the water to eliminate fuel, and that is transformed into energy.

3) You can more easily sustain the standard temperature of your dog’s physique by ingesting enough water as well.

4) Consuming sufficient water replaces the fluids which might be lost in our dog’s body by excretion.

5) The water also requires to mix various kinds of chemical substances within dog’s systems. Namely, the distinct chemical reactions ensure the dissolving and remodeling those components.

6) The water also is a transport device at the same time. It takes the nutrients to the cellular structures and in addition carries poisonous waste material from the cells to the organs for correct processing. With the lack of water, these organs won’t be able to eliminate toxic things off of the dog’s body.

7) In addition, the water is required to control the acid balance within the blood flow.

8) You may know the evergreen saying goes something like “Beauty comes from inside.” This applies to our dog’s mental health as well. Namely, if he or she is happy, and balanced, the vitality is radiating from every pore. That’s can be seen through its eyes, skin, nail, and hair condition too. And the sufficient water consumption has a big role in that as well.

My Take on It

Perhaps you can perceive from the above that the water is nearly always necessary for each function occurs within your favorite’s body. And as a result of its versatility plus the degree to which it’s utilized, water is regarded to be a crucial nutrient that’s needed for all kinds of dogs.

If your animal doesn’t get to water s/he can be died within a few days because of its dehydration. However, he can withstand the starvation; he will only be caught up by the fate when he runs out half its original weight. It’s obvious, there is a significant difference between the consequences of the lack of the two.

So giving my dog anything to eat; homemade food, meat, dry food or canned meals, I make sure fresh water is in front of her always. Especially in the summer when I’m out for several hours, I put enough fresh water in a couple of shaded places to let her drink. I never let the water bowl being empty, and I recommend you to do so as well.

P.S.: By reading this article, I hope you gained some insight related the role of water in your dog’s health. The comment section is open for your remark or question, take advantage of it. Thank You!

How To Do First Walk With Your Puppy?

first-walk-with-your-puppyAfter the injections gave total protection, the time arrived for the first walking of your doggie. It’s important to make sure that your initial mutual strolling won’t be an unpleasant experience, and your puppy is safe. Not every puppy will enjoy the first outdoor adventure. But, their confidence will be increased when you take special care to avoid any unnecessary stress or scathe.

When To Begin

Your doggie isn’t fully immune until two weeks passed after the second vaccination. But, you will not have to keep him locked up in the house during this time. If you did so, then he would be missed building valuable contacts, and much will be afraid when he first leaves the only safe environment he knows.

If you can bring him in your lap, then take him in your arm for shorter walks to familiarize himself with people and traffic. Using public transport or car riding is also a good idea. If you cannot keep your puppy in your lap for a long time, you can take it into your car and let him get familiar with people and other dogs.

Collar and Leash

Never put up his collar and leash only at his first walk, that’s too late! Start with that you put it up every time when your favorite leaves the house, even if you take a short drive only. Let him ramble over your house with his collar and leash, while you quietly follow him.

Once he got used to wearing the collar, force him a little with the leash to walk with you. If you only put up the collar and leash when you bring him outdoor first time, the unusual feeling around his neck will cause him thrill and panic. And it’s good to avoid that.

Make sure that the collar is definitely fit. If your doggie is panicking, then he maybe try to slip out of it and run away. This isn’t the time when the collar should be loose!

WARNING! Never put a chain around his neck because of the strong pressure will scare him. Make sure, however, that the flat buckle collar fit against the neck. In most cases, your two fingers should probably have access under the collar. And you should check that he cannot pull his head out of it.

first-walk-with-puppy-nice-collar-and-leash Other people have use harnesses to be sure that their dogs don’t run away. Of course, whatever you use, check off these devices in a safe place. Before you go out there with him ensure that the collar or harness is on your doggie securely!

Use a Cool-headed Dog as Escorts

Nothing gives more confidence to your puppy, than to go outside with an adult dog. I frequently use this trick. I let the two walk around together, and if the puppy seems pretty calm, I try to separate them a bit gradually. This way, the little pooch will get used to it sometimes goes out alone.

Choose a Quiet Time and Environment

The ideal time may be to take your puppy out early in the morning or late at evening. Fewer people are on the street on these occasions. And chose a quiet area, say a suburban street or a less busy park. Your puppy will contact with lots of new sights, sounds and smell in his first walk.

Consequently, the best is to try to schedule the walks that those should be not too intense for him. I use to plan for future walks in busy places gradually, as part of the socialization of the doggie. However, I do not rush with the process!

Observe Behavior Walking First With Your Puppy

Take your little pal out for a short walk and watch his reactions. If he is curious and happy, then I proceed on a pre-planned route, which should not be long anyway. If my pooch seem worried, I use to take a shorter walk!

However, I try not to finish the walks, while my dog is excited. I try to avoid falling in the trap of constantly soothing, because then he will think there is something to fear from! In this situation I use to distract his attention with toys, or delicious morsels.

And after he shows calmer behavior, I praise him and we go back to her home together. I listen to our canine while walking, and try to be patient. Some of puppies take time to get accustomed to the many new experiences.

Walking In Dog Parks

I do not recommend taking off the leash in the parks. (In most places, the rules do not even allow it anyway.) I approve that measure without hesitation. Namely, you never know which dog is vaccinated, or which dog has what kind of temperament.

As I mentioned earlier, a bad experience during the socialization period can affect his whole life. As the last vaccine received it’s a good idea to take your dog to a dog daycare. Your little dog may continue the development of social behavior in a friendly and safe environment.

Once our pet received all vaccinations, we can go with him more to outside. It’s beneficial to take our dog for a walk to get acquainted with other dogs, cats, and other animals. I use to encourage other people as well, to pet our dog when I walk with it.

Conclusion

All in all, it’s important to accustom your little animal with all stimuli are expected to reach him in future life. The first walks are decisive in this respect. The good socialization performed in the necessary time will result in a reliable dog and a proud owner.

P.S.: Was your first walk with your puppy problem free? How you prepared yourself and your pet for it? Share your experiences in the comments. Thanks!

Dog Food Can Result In Dog Aggression?

One of my acquaintances read on a net forum that the pet food available in stores can cause dog aggression. There were different opinions of forum members about it and also were recommendations contained to switch on to raw food or vegetarian meal. She is a bit confused in the matter as the fly in the spider’s web – figuratively speaking. I told her that I knew and recommended her to call and ask her vet as well as visit authoritative science websites.

Meantime, I also performed what I suggested her to make myself certain 111% in my knowledge. My vet gave me negative answer to the question related direct correlation between the two things. I went further and visited a few science webpages in this topic. The explanations are very similar to what I read on here: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/8575968

Yes and No

There isn’t any straightforward connection between dog food and dog aggression. It’s most likely impossible to point towards just one specific dog food. So, claiming categorically that you shouldn’t nourish it as it’s going to make your family dog extra aggressive becomes false in this form.

dog aggressionApart from that, to feed your dog a typically needy food plan could be an assenting element of dog aggression. You will find research, which has instructed that nourishing your furry pal weak quality meals can lead to aggression.

Some preservatives and sugar in canine food could also can be connected to hyperactive conduct, which might enhance the chance of aggression. Synthetic coloring using some foods happen to links with conduct issues, hyperactivity, studying barriers, timidity and such.

Inadequate cholesterol within the diet plan can be a contributing element for several dogs considering it’s necessary for correct brain functionality. Weak meals also can trigger allergic reactions, which might improve the probability of aggression. But, only in that situation if your doggie has contained whatever physical phobia.

At this stage, a few of these connect between nutrition and aggression have solely been assumed. You will probably notice little scientific information to confirm the statements. However, low quality meals have the opportunity to make usually worse temperament issues and health.

Other Side of the Coin

None of these assumptions – concerning direct links between aggression and dog food – adjusts the truth that all canines must be brought up with firm and mild loveliness. The puppies must be properly-socialized in their early age and launched to plenty of different pleasant individuals and dogs.

However, canines also need to be fed a superb food contains all the necessary nutrients. The dogs usually must have an eating plan that starts with numerous named sources of meat. You need to keep away from meals, which contain corn gluten meal. You need to keep off from meat by-products and digest.

By all means I avoid synthetic preservatives like BHA, BHT as well as Ethoxyquin. I want to look for meals don’t include synthetic colors, sweeteners and sugars. I’m searching for nutriment comprises the least grains. I try to buy foods that satisfy AAFCO requirements.

I’m firmly believe, in case you comply with these recommendations then you will discover good foods for your pet on the market. Common sense says the following: if there happen to be whatever reality to the concept dog meals can redound behavior issues and then to dog aggression,  these food types will certainly be more unlikely acquire a positive effect.

Misconceptions

One concept that ought to be unmasked is the idea providing your animal meat results in aggression, or nourish him or her vegetarian food regimen is going to make him / her extra peace-loving. A family dog is in all certainty a carnivore within the overall sense.

He is definitely an omnivore in routine – something belonging to scavenger and in a position to consume a lot of various types of food. Apart from that, physically, he or she  wants meat protein to outlive and feel wholesome. By feeding your family dog meat or diets, which might be based upon meat protein don’t trigger aggression from him/her.

Those simply satisfy his or her dietary requirements. Alternatively, to nourish your four-legged friend a vegetarian food plan will lead to weak nutrition. Your canine is just not a vegetarian in any aspect or form. Anyway, I mean here the main meal for them and not the motivational treats. I also use to give my dog carrot and apple bites.

One of the main reasons that you simply so frequently hear corn together with other grains blasted for his or her pet food is since they’re mostly vegetable-based and, due to this fact, tougher to digest for your canine.

This is especially true for vegetarian-primarily based dog meals. They’re more durable to process in your dog system. And so they are free from the meat protein that your home guarding dog health requires. Moreover, they don’t keep your canine more peace-loving or do whatever thing to forestall conduct issues. In reality, by redounding weak diet plan, pure vegetarian nutrition is inclined to make behavior habits worse due to the missing elements meat contains.

P.S.: You know; my principle was always to feed my animals for the longer living with us together. I was succeeded in that during the past sixty-five years. So, I hope you picked up some food for thought from today’s entry. What do you think? Share it in the comments. Thank You!

How to Survive Dog Adolescence Period?1

It would be incorrect from my part if I’d say the dog teenage period is your answer to your dream. Bringing up a puppy involves a lot of hassles, since the beginning. Similarly, as a small child – your pup almost just eats, sleeps and defecates. Then, you need to be prepared for the constant puppy gnawing and “adolescent” profligacy, too.

Of course, the time flies over the dogs – either quickly or slowly – like as humans. Every puppy reaches adolescence; he is already not a pup but also isn’t an adult. Adolescence is a huge change in not only people’s life, but in dogs developing as well. The irresistible puppy dog has suddenly started to grow on us and becomes a devil from the little angel almost without transition.

Why Now Exactly?

The question is appropriate. Namely, the first six – teen month is perhaps the most important milestone in dog life. That’s depending on breed’s specificity, the earliest date usually associated with the small stature dogs. This cycle is called the period of imprinting.

surviving-dog-adolescenceHe lived as “outside of ranking in the flock” to this time point. You may know, that among the wolves – and so the dogs – the puppies aren’t included in the pack hierarchy. And, there is much more allowed for these youngsters.

They don’t have to fight for the food, for position, for respect of other flock members. However, they have to start to live a hard adult-life after puberty. Which is a natural consequence of the first trial and error with a pack for their position.

From this period onward they aren’t surrounded with puppies and adults. The peers may be the same, but those are males and females who are couples and rivals simultaneously. The youngsters need to learn the correct behavior toward their own and to the opposite sex. The game suddenly is no longer just a play, but a measure of the force of others.

Furthermore, it’s the time to attempt to select the right pair for them as well. And after all of these, are there someone who says that dogs don’t like us humans? 😉

Forming of Dog-Owner Relationship

We can remember back to our kids’ teenage changes. Depending on our temperament and genes, we can think back how much trouble these changes caused for us in our parents-kids relation. Just think about, how much patience is necessary besides rules for harmonious common living.

The child must learn that there is a responsibility for our actions. They also need to learn where their place is in your family, where are the limits and to how far they can go? These things are definitely taking place, but it matters how; easily, or with many hassles.

You got it? Then you’ll understand; the same takes place also for wolves and dogs. This era is perhaps the most important period of the dog and owner relationship formation and further existence as well. The youngster’s behavior changes suddenly, almost from one day to the next.

Not so experienced dog owners are standing at a loss to know why the behavior of their dogs changed to such an extent quickly and often  radically. Because what is happening? A fierce, often aggressive-looking behavior erupts suddenly from a meek, uncertain puppy.

This can be measured in terms of the fact that the task – has been well-practiced before – as if had been cleared from the dog’s hard drive. The dogs suddenly become casual deaf for your command when they are busy with other, for them is more important thing.

And if you do not pay attention to these signals, later will be much harder to rectify them. So the time has come for you to regulate your adolescent dog (if this has not happened before).

Let’s Be Consistent

Consistency is all over! If we said in connections with puppies that consistency is important, then in an adolescent dog’s life this is essential and crucial. This era will decide ultimately what is allowed and what is not, where is their place in the pack and who does what?

We often fall into the mistake to overlook something once in that period of our dog. Namely, we don’t think that it will be 100 times harder to fix that than in their puppy-hood. Any behavior that we don’t like, it must be considered disrespectful just as in the case of teenage kids, and we must correct immediately.

Let’s think about what that behavior is that a flock can tolerate and what it will not allow. So we need to praise, and discipline measured to that extent. Just be strong. If you prohibited something a nine occasion, you do not allow it at tenth time, even you have labored in it.

Conclusion

This period does not last long. However, it requires the more energy and stamina from your part, but it’s worth it. If the hierarchy is formed properly now, then we can make our dog to approve that we are the pack leader. Then an aggression or even unmanageable fear – which reflect back the inadequate control – generally will not occur in the future.

Next time I’ll deal with a particular phenomenon which is typical for this age, and a mistake most owners tend to commit.

So long …

Small Canine, But It’s Even Dog

Hi,

I always knew I wasn’t perfect, but I tried to approach that status. Among other things, it’s also one of my weaknesses that I always attracted to the medium and large dogs. I had only a few small dogs in my household, not to mention the puppies born here. Apart from that, I know several breeds of them by visiting dog shows, talking with other dog people and vets. And I know personally small canine owners and their dogs as well.

small-canine-shih-tzu-in-gardenYou can see and hear interesting stories by consulting others. Some say that her little Shih Tzu asleep in her bed and eats from the table. Another small dog owner showed me the collar studded with rhinestones she just purchased. She said that her Papillon shrills if left alone and screams seeing another dog.

There is a Chihuahua owner who complained her doggie squawks loudly if it doesn’t get what it wants. I haven’t any doubt why these little build canines behave this way. I always tell that to mess up the puppy upbringing is the easiest.

Now I would like to improve this claim: the education of small breed puppies is even easier to mess up. And based on my experience, unfortunately, that’s what happened quite often. Consequently, by the time the dog reaches adolescence it’s fixed to the undesirable habits.

 A Small Dog Isn’t Dog?

I find it appropriate to ask, why there are so many small dog behavior problems? Maybe they are impossible to teach them in the same way? Or small dogs cannot be able to do the same as their larger counterparts? To search for the answer we don’t need to exam the dogs, but their owners, I think.

Because of their animal’s small size, the owners often cannot (and often not even want) to regard them as dogs. A small dog can fit into your pocket, don’t bother in your bed, easy to pick up if you happen to think … Obviously, to do these will be more difficult with a 99 pounds Rottweiler or a Komondor.

In earlier times, these little dogs (or at least their ancestors) had their own duties as, for example, a shepherd or guard dog breeds. Today, however, these doggies are not dogs as many people think. It might as well call them the supplement of children.

Alternatively, you can name them (on a humiliating manner) for cats, because, unfortunately, many people tend to treat them that way. But, apart from that, the dog still stays dog … with a lot of unwanted and poorly entrenched behavioral problems.

Puppy Ages of Small Dogs

It may be unbelievable for someone but a Yorkie or a Maltese puppy has the same puppy-hood completely than a Saint Bernard or an Amstaff. And if you want a physically and mentally healthy, well-balanced dog, you need to try to raise him into awareness of this right from the start.

You should pay attention to the same problems and educational principles with a small dog like a bigger bodied peer. In this article, I only want to point out two mistakes that are typically use to commit owners of small dogs.

Snacking … a Piece of Me, a Piece of the Dog

I mean a small bite of the main course, a little dessert, a piece of chocolate, a bit of potato chips. It wouldn’t come to mind the consequences while we meet the eager eyes begging for bites. Although, we build a fundament of behavioral problems and also endanger the health of our favorites.

The dog (the little dog, too!) is a prey oriented beast. Her stomach isn’t evolved for purpose of processing a variety of nutrients in half hourly. Not to mention the fact that – especially in the development phase of puppies – we can cause serious damage doing this kind of spoiling.

In addition to the constant snacking, your pooch will not get its own need to enter the standard feed specifically designed for him. Which is resulted in a not only picky, but an ill-nourished, unhealthy dog. The composition of the human food doesn’t meet a doggie in development, but also not for your adult dog.

So, often in their puppy-hood they develop various developmental disorders – due to inadequate feeding. In addition, you lose your authority  in the eyes of your puppies. As a pack animal, your dog will never respect you as a leader when his own will prevails already in his puppy times.

The Importance of Teaching Your Small Dog

Unfortunately, I rarely see a small dog who – at the first word – could walk without a lead beside the owner’s foot. I could additionally mention the actions of Sit, Down, etc. or even Come back to the owner when the command is said at first occasion. Again, the fault is also can be searched not in the dog’s ability …

Although, a small dog is capable to learn the same training commands such as their larger conspecifics. But, for some reason, many owners devoted much less time to that in their case. However, the dealing with dogs, the consistent training is equally important from the outset, as the right nutrition.

You need to find time for your dogs! It isn’t sufficient if he is watching TV when sitting in your lap. The same is with that you go down twice daily for a ten-minute walk with cell phone in your hand. Our dog does need to be both physically and mentally tired sufficiently.

Conclusion

My friend, take the trouble to teach your small dog at least the basic training commands. Play a lot with him and find out challenges suitable to their psychique. With these activities you prevent not only your home deterioration, but those also help to build a more robust dog-owner relationship between you. In addition, you could walk with your doggie much prouder if you don’t have to worry about time s/he running out in front of a car.

P.S.: Has the topic attracted your attention? What’s the size of your furry pal? What are your thoughts about dealing with little dogs? Please, speak your mind in the comments. Thank You!

How to Live With Handicapped Dogs?

Dogs are very much like us humans. The remembrance of canines is so much more human-like. Their memory is permitting our best friend to imitate our actions, even with some delays. Majority of them see the world in any specific second relatively as people do. But there are other similarities as well. For instance, dogs can have the same kind of handicaps that people possess.

They may lose a limb, be born deaf or blind, or experience handicaps due to declining health in later years. There are also some health problems that would qualify a dog as handicapped such as megaesophagus problems or other congenital issues.

(When your dog has megaesophagus, the gullet expanded so it doesn’t push food items down to the stomach. Due to this fact, what your dog eats fails to take into the gastric. And sometimes the food stays within the esophagus, and is ultimately regurgitated. Alternatively, it declines within the esophagus or enters the lungs via breathing.)

The megaesophagus illness can occur in dogs, cats and humans anyway. All in all, for you, the owner, living with your dog that has a drawback can be a challenge.

Preparing Yourself and Your Home

If you are living with a handicapped dog, then you probably already know that you may spend more than your share of time at your vet’s office. It is important to get a good diagnosis and to have a vet who you trust. Your dog’s care and quality of life will depend on establishing a suitable working relationship with your vet.

Consequently, find a veterinarian who understands your dog’s condition and who will talk to you about your dog. Don’t be afraid to ask for referral to a specialist if necessary. There are continual veterinary advances so it’s a good idea for you to try to do your own research. This way, you are aware of any new treatments that could help your dog.

When it comes to living with a handicapped dog, it’s possible that you will need to make some special adjustments in your home for your canine. For example, if your dog has trouble walking you may need to assist him with a harness when he goes up and down stairs.

There is a chance that you live with a blind dog. Then it’s a good idea to keep large pieces of furniture in the same positions. This way, your dog will become accustomed to where they are and plot his course around them. If you move, then he will bump into things.

Treating Handicapped dogs

Some dogs are able to handle some handicaps much more easily than others. Deaf dogs often can be trained to learn hand signals. Using hand signals you can train your dog in all the typical obedience commands and many other orders.

As long as your dog can see you, he will be able to follow your commands. If your dog is unilaterally deaf – hard of hearing in one ear – you probably won’t even know that he has any deafness at all.

paralized-handicapped-dogDogs which have lost a limb are usually well able to compensate and are very mobile on three legs. I have seen examples of this, and more than one. There are dogs, which have severe problems with two limb. I mean those canines which are paralyzed in their hind legs.

They can be fitted with a cart or wheelchair and remain very active. The wheelchairs can be collapsed and taken by the dog when he travels. Some dogs are still able to go hiking with their owners using their wheelchairs.

As the Years Passes

It may happen that you have an elderly dog which is beginning to develop some handicaps. Then you will need to take each one separately and try to work through the problem. If your dog’s eyesight is beginning to fail, for instance, help your dog down steps at night. Walk him outside to potty, especially if he has problems seeing through shadows at night.

If his hearing is starting to fail, expect to call him a few times before he comes or goes to find him and bring him in for dinner. If he is developing some arthritis, talk to your vet to see if he may need some pain medication to help him.

Conclusion

Living with the handicapped dogs isn’t always easy but canines are much more resilient than we sometimes believe. They can often overcome great difficulties. If your dog has a handicap, then try to find some creative ways to help him make his life easier. Your dog will be willing to work with you and try new things as long as you make the effort.

P.S.: Are you living with a handicapped dog? What is the nature of this handicap? How do you managing your common daily life? If you share your story in the comment, others may get ideas or encouragement from it. Thank You!

Stop Your Dog Running Through The Door

I had a phone call from one of my relatives because he wants to stop his Pointer running through the door. It happened that his dog ran out beside one of his children. Another time a guest contribution was the deal for the terrier. And he admitted that he too had caused such a “freedom” several times. It’s frequent that he almost tips over attempting to hinder the slipping of his Pointer. But, the essence of the question is how he can prevent this behavior?

pointer-dog-running-through-doorAs it turned out, that Pointer never has learned that slipping through doorways is prohibited without invitation. Sad to say, countless dogs escape yearly because they grab the opportunity to run through the door when they see the chance. Their owners may or not be able to catch these dogs, and some of them may be lost forever.

This bolting behavior can be very dangerous. At the very least, it means you may have to spend a lot of time trying to chase your dog down the street. Alternatively, your dog may run out the door into traffic. Here are three methods you can do to stop your dog from running through the door.

A)  Teach your dog the “Come” command. Of course, it would help if your dog had learned some other commands, so he wouldn’t run out the door!  But, teaching your dog the “Come” command could save your dog’s life. If your dog does run out the door, then knowing this command could stop your dog in his tracks.

And it brings him back to you before he is hit by a car, or before he goes racing down the street and becomes lost. The “Come” command is relatively easy to teach, but it may take a long time before your dog responds to it reliably. You can teach it to your dog using a flat buckle collar and a long cord around 15 – 20 feet.

With your dog either sitting in the yard (preferably a fenced yard) or wandering around not paying attention to you, tell him to “Come” and jiggle the cord toward you slightly. Use a happy, encouraging voice. It may help to be squat down and keep your arms open to give him an idea of what you want.

As soon as he starts to come to you begin to praise him. If he halts, then jiggle the line a little more but don’t pull him to you. When he arrives to you give him some treat and praise him. You will need to repeat this lesson again and again until you are sure that your dog understands it.

He will need to be absolutely perfect for coming to you on the cord before you even think about trying the “Come” command off-leash. When you do so, make sure you are in an enclosed area with few distractions. It will probably take a long time before your dog comes to you reliably when you call him but knowing this command can save your dog’s life.

B)  Teach your dog to sit when you open the door. This is not a hard lesson to teach. Your dog needs to know the “Sit” and “Stay” commands. When you start to open the door you should give your dog the “Sit” command and reward him when he sits, and then you tell him to “Stay.”

If he is a bolder, he may be very tempted to rush out the door, but you should keep emphasizing that he needs to stay. You can also practice this lesson by having a friend come through the door. This way, the timing of opening the door is a little more unexpected and so a little more challenging for your dog.

If your dog is still hopping up when he should be sitting, try having another person hold his collar and then rewarding him for sitting. Or, you can put a leash on your dog and keep the leash under your foot so when the dog starts to jump up and run it automatically pulls him back.

Keep telling him to go back into the sitting position and rewarding him when he can comply and stay there. If you keep working on this lesson, your dog will get it.

C)  Tell your dog to go to his place. Another option is to tell your dog to go to his place when you are headed out the door or when you are opening the door for someone to enter. Your dog’s place could be his bed, his crate or another room. You can have another family member waiting to give your dog a treat for going to his place when you give the command.

Whether or not you reside in a rural place or in a town, running through the door without call could be a living or dying scenario to your. It’s by no means already too late for your canine to turn over a new leaf. However, I’d like to warn you it can take perseverance and endurance on your behalf. In addition, the cooperation between each family member within your house is a must.

My Additions

* Educating your favorite to follow you when you’re going to go through a door is critical. Furthermore, it is advantageous to your canine’s psychological health. She or he requires a leader, and you perform that task, right? This can additionally stop your doggie from make off.

* A good training is vital. Moreover, when you made buddies together with your animal, your dog will be more unlikely to divagate. Training does not imply to take obedience courses (however, you can). This means instructing your four-legged friend fundamental commands similar to “Come” “Sit” “Down” and “Stay.”

* If your family dog escapes, by no means scold him once you lastly get him! Canines connect reactions to what they simply did in the previous few seconds. In the case, you scold your dog whenever you catch him, you’re really educating him not to allow you to catch him again.

My Friend!

These suggestions do work to stop your dog from running through the door, and they can help save your dog’s life. Choose the approach that will work best with your dog or teach him all three approaches so you have some options. But, devote your time to work on these ways to keep your dog from running through the door.

P.S.: Your dog is disciplined enough not to do such a thing, right? If not then choose a method from these and apply it. Then give a presentation on the outcome in the comments. Thank You!
