Can Your Dog’s Cost Be Lower?2

Hello Everyone,

We have arrived to the second instalment of reducing dog’s cost. In the previous part, we discussed saving tips on: a) choosing the right dog to fit our budget and b) money-saving options on dog food. Meantime, one of my readers mentioned the grooming expenses she spends monthly. And others are interested in saving on pet sitting costs. These are very good questions, and I say thanks to Ethel, Louis and Claire suggested them. Today we will look at those elements too, but now, I continue with the dog treats and snacks options.

And now I’m unusual because I don’t speak the treats available in pet shops. Why? It seemed for me long ago that the time arrived to begin shopping for dog treats from our grocery store rather pet food retailer. I viewed the storage unit price of top quality treats within our local pet supply.

I found that meat treats could cost more per pound than crayfish. Another item (salmon jerky) is costlier compared to the smoked salmon I purchased. Going further between containers some bear-shaped cookies were more expensive than the cheese imported from Italy.

And by visited forums I read about canines turned into unwell or dying from cheap treats, I purchased for my dogs solely the best.

Low-cost Secure Grocery Retailer Treats

This is my listing among the finest dog treats you’ll discover in your grocery store or supermarket. These won’t cost an arm and leg and simultaneously; your dog will consuming them happily and will remain healthy.

carrots-as-healthy-dog-treatsApple Cubes – I use to make cubes from them and my dogs eat them gladly.

Carrots – I slice and store them in the fridge in ice water. They like them because the pieces stay crispy that way.

Cheese – I use to give them in a little amount to avoid diarrhea.

Chicken – Cooking them in a crock pot until the meat separated from the bone is easy. The resulting stock can be useful in many recipes.

Liver – I use to slice it into thin pieces and dehydrate them. It’s advantageous to buy organic liver. Doing so, the antibiotics and chemicals conventional agriculture apply to don’t enter the food.

Liverwurst – It also called as dog crack somewhere. It’s a superb high-value treat, but I use it moderately.

Sweet Potatoes – I prepare from them dehydrated thin slices (in the oven). Of course, I wash their skin or peel them before. In a plastic container, I can easily keep them for 2 – 3 weeks unspoiled.

turkey-hot-dogs-as-dog-treatsTurkey Hot Dogs – In the event, you don’t like dealing with them raw, put slices inside a dehydrator. Alternatively, put in a baking sheet within the oven of 170 degrees until they puff up, and their moisture goes out. Then I put them in a plastic container into the freezer.

Yogurt (frozen) – I use to add two tablespoons of peanut butter to a cupful of yogurt. Then I stir and freeze the mixture until shaped the tartlet pan.

There’s no valid justification your family dog’s rewards should be a commercial dog treats solely. So, I also use to prepare homemade dog biscuits, the recipe is here. And it’s not bad, I confess I use to taste them after baking.

Saving Money on Dog Grooming

I’m convinced I don’t need to emphasize the importance of systematic dog grooming for dog lover people. I also discussed about that here recently. Now you can find some additions.

I use to do grooming procedures like brushing/combing, bathing, haircut and nail clipping on my own. Getting the necessary supplies designed for dogs isn’t problematic. And I need to purchase the tools once and use them for many years.

Of course, I haven’t started doing dog grooming the day before yesterday. I was lucky enough to observe people older than me – such as shepherds, hunters and dog breeders – as they did the grooming processes.

And Dr. Francis Header, our veterinarian decades ago was my other help in this area. For example, among others, he showed me the removal method of a dewclaw nearly fifty years ago. And also he advised me which tool is suitable for performing a different task.

One of my readers, Ethel said she doesn’t like to leave her doggies at the pro groomer daylong. And the carrying back and forth also is problematic to her, not to mention the $140 expense for two Spaniel doggies monthly.

I understand her and only can recommend you to follow my example and learn to make the necessary grooming home. Invest in a good set of sharp clipping tools that serve you long. Enter the “dog grooming courses on DVD” into your browser and the Internet will give you a tremendous result to learn. Follow the same process if you prefer books to videos or DVDs.

My secret tip1: I use surgical scissors rather dog grooming scissors, they are cheaper, but do the task just as well. Secret tip2: The diluted baby shampoo is excellent to bathe my dog, has the more subtle smell, and cheaper than dog shampoo. (This tip originated from a vet working for a pharmaceutical giant.)

Saving on Dog Sitter Expenses

working-dog-sitter Are you intended to go out of town for getting a weekend? Hiring a dog sitter doesn’t demolish your budget necessarily. Fortunately, there are various ways to identify an affordable sitter – for between $15 and $35 per day. You can begin with asking your vet for suggestions.

And additionally, you may deliberate to search at Pet Sitters International or as well as National Association of Professional Pet Sitters. It’s a good move to be certain your dog sitter is committed, insured and licensed by a pro organization.

There is another possibility, you just visit the petsitterswap.com website. Pet Sitter Swap is helpful to individuals with dogs, cats and various other domesticated animal. As they say dogs and other pets prefer them. Because of their swap service, the animals are free from staying in cattery or kennel.

P.S.: My friends, share your related tips and help other dog lovers just like you! Next time I’ll cover the veterinary cost reduction opportunities. Thank You!

Considering Your Dog Grooming Needs

Hi Everyone!

Before we discuss about the dog grooming needs of your pet, I’ll mention our daily actions.  I’m in a good mood because we have a new family member. At the day before yesterday, I got a German Shepherd mix puppy from a local rescue organization. The introducing the newcomer to Zizi went quite smoothly; she accepted Lisa (the puppy) instantly. (That’s meant if your dog trusts you, I believe.) Lisa gradually became acquainted with other members of my family. She has mapped out her new living space, which will be the two of them thereafter. But, let’s get to your dog’s grooming needs.

Due to the rainy weather, the soil soaked up, so the paws’ cleaning and dog bathing followed our walking with Zizi today. I took away the mud from her toes and also examined them for possibly injury. The next step of dog grooming was to comb her hair and bathe the ‘lady’ full. I rubbed her coat thoroughly by towel and ended the canine grooming process with a hair dryer. I found she is also preparing for the winter and grows her hair anyway.

I’m lucky enough with her coat. Given that she is a Labrador and German Shepherd mix, she requires only simple maintenance, like hair brushing. Anyway, the dog grooming seems like an art for beginner dog owners as I experienced. And it really can be an art if you go from primary canine care to virtually spa-like coddling.

Grooming Requirements of Different Coat Types

Before going any further, you’ve to accept that dog grooming isn’t merely an indulgence. Rather it’s an unavoidable necessity. Your doggie which doesn’t get correct grooming on a timely method is susceptible for gingivitis, sickness, parasites and harm to skin and fur equally.

The fundamental grooming necessities determined by your dog’s breed as well as his / her characteristics. Based on those, your dog’s hair can be short, long, straight, wavy, silky, coarse, and combinations thereof, too. And you, as a pet owner, will handle the canine hair in beginning.

komondor-dog-grooming-needs-are-frequent

A Komondor Dog Grooming Needs Are Frequent

Lengthy haired canines that shed are required grooming more often than short coated fellows or those that solely shed periodically. Those dogs equipped with frizzy or curly hair want day by day care to remain detangled and take away particles or foliage. Namely, that will be caught within the coat as your animal is walking or exercising outside.

Hiring Dog Grooming Professionals

And do not deny, but bringing your family dog to a professional groomer on the weekly basis may be costly. Obviously, if you want to bring your favorite to dog shows, then you should take the expenses involved. And, if you’d like to give the best for your furry friend, you may also rent mobile dog groomers.

Those people are operating a complete grooming station within their vans. These professionals are parking in your driveway and perform the whole grooming process onboard. This is a superb comfort and avoids the “moist dog” odor lingering within your bathroom. To economize, it’s also possible doing most of the primary dog grooming methods yourself if you learn those.

Dog Grooming on Your Own

Of course, your four-legged mate might not be thrilled about receiving bathing, but that shouldn’t limit you. Bathing is definitely a well being concern for pets similar to how it is due to people. You will not cease to bathing your toddler simply because she shrieks at tub time, will you?

If you’re uncertain about the proper techniques doing brushing, de-tangling and bathing your pet’s coat, look for the best online resource. Alternatively, you can possibly ask for watching the elements of dog grooming at a groomer. You might also take a course from a vet’s workplace or a pet retailer.

Those classes help you to get familiar with the proper techniques. Additionally, you can obtain some professional recommendations on how to handle your family dog’s nervousness or fears throughout grooming process.

WARNING! The skin underneath of your canine’s fur could be sensitive extremely. So, keep away from aggressive scrubbing when bathing your animal. Otherwise, you w’ll be able to remove excessive body oils that defend skin and fur follicles equally.

I Use To Do It This Way

I use to avoid shampoo, scents or powder and alike, which isn’t designed for apply with canines. Applying those is doing more harm than good as well as an unnecessary vet bill. Namely, those products may cause infection or irritation in your dog’s skin.

Thus, if some product isn’t dedicated for my dog or her fur, then I never use that. Certainly, you’re understand the importance of being patient during grooming. I always take time to speak fondly to my dog and rub her belly or shoulder.

These contribute to develop a joyful feeling and quality dog grooming process. For instance, if I’m impatient, then I don’t even begin this operation. My canine would be difficult to manage if she discovered my impatience.

Dog Grooming Tools

Dog's-grooming-toolsOf course, to reach success in grooming requires correct tools. Please, don’t use the outdated hairbrush of your family in your canine. Acquire particular combs and brushes that are designed for your pet’s fur. You’ll not lower your expenses using your throw-away when you injure your dog’s skin with those.

I believe, your dog doesn’t miss the pain (you might cause), and also you a high veterinary bill. Apart from that, you would possibly save some cash by bringing your dog to a groomer monthly or bi-weekly. For example, you’re able to do plain hair brushing or deal with the bath every two weeks (if necessary).

Conclusion

When your dog friend spends the majority of its time open air, you continuously need to do primary grooming. Without cleanliness, your family dog can be subject to different parasite colonization, which may give him a hard time. The dog grooming is a necessary part of keeping up with your dog’s health as well. His or her good looks and your peace of mind deserves that.

Is Context Between Dog’s Health and Water?

When it comes to the water’s role in health, we know that no live organism can exist, operate without water. That’s how it is, an instance of that is that the water is the main component of the human body. An adult human’s body contains around 60-70% water. For example, if one weights 176 pounds, his body contains about 14,3 gal water. Well, you may find similar rates in our dogs, too. So, there is a straight context between dog’s health and the water.

Water Needs

dog-drinks-waterAs researchers have shown, your family dog’s physique comprises around of 70% water. By losing all the fats and 50% of protein of its body has less impact than he cannot get water for two days or more. It can be fatal for him if the water in your canine’s body is reduced to one tenth.

With a view to survive, an adult canine requires – at a minimum – two milliliters of water projected to each pound weight daily. That’s when considering 1 ounce contains 30 milliliters of water. However, that two milliliters are only enough for your animal to produce urine within his body.

Importance of Water

Without sufficient water vital for urine providing, your family dog or whatever canine won’t be able to live. When you are providing an infinite amount of water, your canine will consume a lot more than that two millimeters required. That is particularly true if you always provide fresh water to him.

Handing your doggie merely the smallest amount of water each day could also be sufficient for him to outlive, although not for long. Shortage in water injures the system and terminates its functions progressively. He’ll ultimately become weak, come down with a disease, and decease.

Water Utilizing Ways In Dog’s Body

The advantage of providing your family dog enough water compared to the smallest amount wanted is that its system can use that multi-mode (just like in humans).

1) The water facilitates the digesting and the process of taking nutrients from the food.

2) Our dog’s system is using the water to eliminate fuel, and that is transformed into energy.

3) You can more easily sustain the standard temperature of your dog’s physique by ingesting enough water as well.

4) Consuming sufficient water replaces the fluids which might be lost in our dog’s body by excretion.

5) The water also requires to mix various kinds of chemical substances within dog’s systems. Namely, the distinct chemical reactions ensure the dissolving and remodeling those components.

6) The water also is a transport device at the same time. It takes the nutrients to the cellular structures and in addition carries poisonous waste material from the cells to the organs for correct processing. With the lack of water, these organs won’t be able to eliminate toxic things off of the dog’s body.

7) In addition, the water is required to control the acid balance within the blood flow.

8) You may know the evergreen saying goes something like “Beauty comes from inside.” This applies to our dog’s mental health as well. Namely, if he or she is happy, and balanced, the vitality is radiating from every pore. That’s can be seen through its eyes, skin, nail, and hair condition too. And the sufficient water consumption has a big role in that as well.

My Take on It

Perhaps you can perceive from the above that the water is nearly always necessary for each function occurs within your favorite’s body. And as a result of its versatility plus the degree to which it’s utilized, water is regarded to be a crucial nutrient that’s needed for all kinds of dogs.

If your animal doesn’t get to water s/he can be died within a few days because of its dehydration. However, he can withstand the starvation; he will only be caught up by the fate when he runs out half its original weight. It’s obvious, there is a significant difference between the consequences of the lack of the two.

So giving my dog anything to eat; homemade food, meat, dry food or canned meals, I make sure fresh water is in front of her always. Especially in the summer when I’m out for several hours, I put enough fresh water in a couple of shaded places to let her drink. I never let the water bowl being empty, and I recommend you to do so as well.

P.S.: By reading this article, I hope you gained some insight related the role of water in your dog’s health. The comment section is open for your remark or question, take advantage of it. Thank You!

Small Canine, But It’s Even Dog

Hi,

I always knew I wasn’t perfect, but I tried to approach that status. Among other things, it’s also one of my weaknesses that I always attracted to the medium and large dogs. I had only a few small dogs in my household, not to mention the puppies born here. Apart from that, I know several breeds of them by visiting dog shows, talking with other dog people and vets. And I know personally small canine owners and their dogs as well.

small-canine-shih-tzu-in-gardenYou can see and hear interesting stories by consulting others. Some say that her little Shih Tzu asleep in her bed and eats from the table. Another small dog owner showed me the collar studded with rhinestones she just purchased. She said that her Papillon shrills if left alone and screams seeing another dog.

There is a Chihuahua owner who complained her doggie squawks loudly if it doesn’t get what it wants. I haven’t any doubt why these little build canines behave this way. I always tell that to mess up the puppy upbringing is the easiest.

Now I would like to improve this claim: the education of small breed puppies is even easier to mess up. And based on my experience, unfortunately, that’s what happened quite often. Consequently, by the time the dog reaches adolescence it’s fixed to the undesirable habits.

 A Small Dog Isn’t Dog?

I find it appropriate to ask, why there are so many small dog behavior problems? Maybe they are impossible to teach them in the same way? Or small dogs cannot be able to do the same as their larger counterparts? To search for the answer we don’t need to exam the dogs, but their owners, I think.

Because of their animal’s small size, the owners often cannot (and often not even want) to regard them as dogs. A small dog can fit into your pocket, don’t bother in your bed, easy to pick up if you happen to think … Obviously, to do these will be more difficult with a 99 pounds Rottweiler or a Komondor.

In earlier times, these little dogs (or at least their ancestors) had their own duties as, for example, a shepherd or guard dog breeds. Today, however, these doggies are not dogs as many people think. It might as well call them the supplement of children.

Alternatively, you can name them (on a humiliating manner) for cats, because, unfortunately, many people tend to treat them that way. But, apart from that, the dog still stays dog … with a lot of unwanted and poorly entrenched behavioral problems.

Puppy Ages of Small Dogs

It may be unbelievable for someone but a Yorkie or a Maltese puppy has the same puppy-hood completely than a Saint Bernard or an Amstaff. And if you want a physically and mentally healthy, well-balanced dog, you need to try to raise him into awareness of this right from the start.

You should pay attention to the same problems and educational principles with a small dog like a bigger bodied peer. In this article, I only want to point out two mistakes that are typically use to commit owners of small dogs.

Snacking … a Piece of Me, a Piece of the Dog

I mean a small bite of the main course, a little dessert, a piece of chocolate, a bit of potato chips. It wouldn’t come to mind the consequences while we meet the eager eyes begging for bites. Although, we build a fundament of behavioral problems and also endanger the health of our favorites.

The dog (the little dog, too!) is a prey oriented beast. Her stomach isn’t evolved for purpose of processing a variety of nutrients in half hourly. Not to mention the fact that – especially in the development phase of puppies – we can cause serious damage doing this kind of spoiling.

In addition to the constant snacking, your pooch will not get its own need to enter the standard feed specifically designed for him. Which is resulted in a not only picky, but an ill-nourished, unhealthy dog. The composition of the human food doesn’t meet a doggie in development, but also not for your adult dog.

So, often in their puppy-hood they develop various developmental disorders – due to inadequate feeding. In addition, you lose your authority  in the eyes of your puppies. As a pack animal, your dog will never respect you as a leader when his own will prevails already in his puppy times.

The Importance of Teaching Your Small Dog

Unfortunately, I rarely see a small dog who – at the first word – could walk without a lead beside the owner’s foot. I could additionally mention the actions of Sit, Down, etc. or even Come back to the owner when the command is said at first occasion. Again, the fault is also can be searched not in the dog’s ability …

Although, a small dog is capable to learn the same training commands such as their larger conspecifics. But, for some reason, many owners devoted much less time to that in their case. However, the dealing with dogs, the consistent training is equally important from the outset, as the right nutrition.

You need to find time for your dogs! It isn’t sufficient if he is watching TV when sitting in your lap. The same is with that you go down twice daily for a ten-minute walk with cell phone in your hand. Our dog does need to be both physically and mentally tired sufficiently.

Conclusion

My friend, take the trouble to teach your small dog at least the basic training commands. Play a lot with him and find out challenges suitable to their psychique. With these activities you prevent not only your home deterioration, but those also help to build a more robust dog-owner relationship between you. In addition, you could walk with your doggie much prouder if you don’t have to worry about time s/he running out in front of a car.

P.S.: Has the topic attracted your attention? What’s the size of your furry pal? What are your thoughts about dealing with little dogs? Please, speak your mind in the comments. Thank You!

Why Do Dogs Licking Our Face?

My dog Zizi and I did a very enjoyable walk yesterday. After letting their moisture out, the clouds moved on. And the sun emerged finally after several cloudy days. Zizi was pleased to run up and down and expressed her good mood on her own way. She stood on her two rear legs and was licking my face in the midst of tail wagging. My Labrador – German Shepherd mix is weighed 66 pounds.

I wore a rain coat, so I could wash the footprints of her muddy front legs off of myself. Anyway, licking my face or my hands belongs to her habits. (And yes, I always wash up after similar scenes.) As she isn’t my first dog, I’m aware about the importance of suchlike actions. And, I have created this post to help newly dog owners understand why do dogs licking our face.

When Dogs Begin Face Licking and Why?

First of all, when the canines lick you that could mean plenty of various things. Contrary to popular belief, licking is some sort of communication for your four-legged favorite. In addition, quite a few of them use for eating and grooming. Therefore, it can have several meanings.

That will make it difficult and somewhat hard to determine at sometimes. The licking already starts within the calving box, together with many of the behaviors that your chosen doggie shows. A mom dog of course licks her offsprings to incite those once they’re first born.

The licking wakes them up and stimulates their circulation. Furthermore, it removes the caul protecting the newborns during the birth. Moreover, that maternal licking also urges them on to nurse.

Afterward, their mother will lick each of puppy to start their bowel movements and cleaning them. And – for an outside observer – the mom canine’s caring for her puppies most likely seems as the embodiment of maternal love. And it certainly is, however, it serves several aims.

Licking Your Face As Acknowledging

dog-licking-faceWhen puppies are getting older, they also lick across the lips of their moms and other grownup canines. This way, they try to ask those to throw up some partly digested meals for them. Among wild dogs and wolves, this action is totally normal. And our domestic canines apply this habit as well.

This conduct – licking a mom animal on the face – could also be experienced later in life. Maybe this is the motive why canines try to lick humans face? Quite often this might be one of the explanations in reality.

As doing communication, the pups will lick across the faces of their senior fellow species to point out their submission. Your dog can also lick your face involving the identical goal. By licking your face or skin, he acknowledges you as the leader of the pack.

Additionally, the dogs use to go to lick if they are nervous or have anxiety emotions. The licking could help them to alleviate those feelings. Your dog might lick as a method of attempting to calm down somebody higher positioned within the “pack.”

Of course, you as the pack leader might be the main licking target. It may happen when your family dog is anxious or nervous, or fears he drove you mad. Then he might try to lick surrounding your face as a means to mollify you.

Licking for Getting Attention

Your canines may even lick you for getting your attention. Like numerous habits, the licking could be discovered and turn to being a conduct when you give reinforcement.

For example, if your furry pal licks you, and you assume it’s okay, chances are you’ll laugh or praise your animal. This may encourage your doggie to lick you repeatedly at every possible occasion.

The reason is since he’s getting positive heed – or whatever attention – by doing this action. If your pet dog is very socially daring, he can be  more pushy regarding this behavior and attempts to lick your face every time he thinks it. Often it is tough to interrupt this behavior as it begins suddenly.

Compulsive Face Licking

There are canines that do licking actions toward something compulsively. This kind of licking is generally addressed at their own grooming. However, it can also have things like furniture or woodwork. Many times it could include you, the owner.

The dogs also might lick fingers, faces, toes, and feet as if it were mandatory. In this case, you might want to consult with your veterinarian about treatment to help with these compulsions. Moreover, if you want to stop it, you ought to try altering your dog’s conduct.

My Take on It

We, humans aren’t alike. So, this kind of dog kissing might make you uncomfortable or disgusting. And I can imagine that situation if you’re a proud owner of a Great Dane. 🙂 You need to make an effort to remain standing at all during this sudden action.

You may become annoyed while you try to wipe your face. However, you shouldn’t be angry about it. Namely, the face licking is a common practice within the pack of wolves and wild dogs. The higher positioned animal’s privilege is getting licking their chops as welcome by the other flock members.

The canines could lick somebody’s face for a number of completely different reasons according to the dog in question. If you’d like the habits to end, strive to determine what’s stimulating your animal. Is your dog nervous? The licking became his behavior? Is he attempting to get your heed?

So, the reasons of face licking can be various. When you figured out the cause, then you’ll be able to work towards what should be done regarding this conduct.

Anyway, I don’t think that general cessation would have great meaning. However, for example, when I don’t want my dog to do this, then I tell her a strong NOT. Consequently, she doesn’t continue that behavior. I call this as a method of raising a conscious dog.

P.S.: Do your dogs licking your face or skin? Does that behavior amuse or annoy you? Did you figure out the reason? Share your opinion about this thing in the comments. Thank You!

A Good Dog House Is Unreachable Dream?

My family always kept different domestic animals, as I look back to my childhood. And each animal was in its place, for example, the cow in the cowshed, hens in the henhouse and so on. Our Swan, the Kuvasz dog had a dog house, to relax she went there.

So, without doubt if you have a dog, then he needs some asylum. You need to think some aspects when it comes to giving a nook to your favorite. By reading this entry you’ll know the necessities to provide a right doggie house your furry pal deserves.

Characteristics of a Good Dog House

A good dog house means a harborage for the canine living outdoors, like an apartment for a man. As their lodging needs are different for all humans, this applies in the case of dogs, too. That is, the question isn’t whether to have our dog its own house or not.

Frame-of-a-good-dog-houseYour dog just expects a place where he can feel itself being safe. He wants a shadow from heat caused the sun and a protection against wind and precipitation. For you the essence is what’s the house material, the structure and where you put it?

Let me to refer to my childhood again.

As I remember Swan’s dog house was big enough for her. The walls, floor and the roof were made from plank and inside was lined with straw during the winter. The house was standing on six inch legs. The roof was slightly stretched beyond the walls so the rain isn’t washing them.

Of course, these days you also can use more modern materials. If your canine lives in the yard / garden, be sure to have a well isolated, rain-and wind-free house. For ease of assembly, it’s the best if the house walls are wood panels with insulation.

What Size Is Needed?

The dog house’s necessary size depends on your canine’s dimension. That’s size is right if your animal can walk in, can turn back and can lie down. Another principle is he should be able to heat it with his own body. Therefore, before you go to buy a dog house – or materials for construction – you should know its measurements.

For this reason, you need to measure your dog’s height at the withers, and his length. Bear in mind if the dog house is smaller than required, then the dog cannot be rounded comfortably. Obviously, a small Spaniel needs smaller dog house than the Doberman.

Note: Before someone called me soulless for outdoor keeping a Spaniel, I’d say something. The Spaniel dog was breed originally as hunting / retrieving games from water or land. So, anno, it was a requirement to bear those conditions.

Today’s Spaniels also can sustain outdoors as well. He needs a well insulated dog house is protected from the wind. Plus a heat curtain is an addition over the doorway. Furthermore, you need to let its coat grow by the cold weather.

Back to the dog house size. There are dogs like Caucasian Shepherd Dog, Hungarian Komondor or a Newfoundland. Obviously, these animals need the greatest place, around 35 x 40 inches.

The best is, when the dog house’s door is at one end of the long side. This way the wind cannot blow through the house, but you can make sure a wind-free nook in a corner. Make sure that the door of the dog house is south-facing in all circumstances.

What the Dogs Prefer

The todays dog’s ancestor was a predator, living in caves generally. They were less sensitive and had a suchlike coat that was enough to bear weather conditions. However, there are some things that didn’t change after a period of time, either.

Generally, dogs prefer those places which have exact boundaries on many sides and free from drafts and wind. They like if their place isn’t too hot or too cold, and slightly falls apart. But there is one important condition you, the owner should ensure because that belongs to the dog’s nature.

Namely, your dog wants to check the entrance or gate and wants to follow the family’s life, too. Your dog tries to be there you are and where the life is happening. Namely, the most important thing for him is being a part of the company.

Where to Place the Doggie House

Where to put the doggie house has its particular importance. Namely, I experienced if you aren’t careful enough concerning it, your favorite simply is avoiding the nook you intended to give him. His own place means a refuge for your dog, where he can feel himself safe.

You shouldn’t place the dog house directly on the ground. Put it to a pedestal, so the floor doesn’t get wet, and don’t be wetted from the ground, too. As a liner, the horsehair mattress is the most right, because the sponge gets wet when the dog lies down with its wetted coat.

As mentioned above, the dog likes to check the door of the family home as well as the street gate where strangers can come. He is also interested in what happens in most of the gardens. For these reasons, the best place is to put the dog house there where he can fulfill all these tasks without difficulty.

What to do if you keep your dog inside

If the dog lives in your flat, then make sure a place for him in a draft-free and quiet corner. There he can retreat away and no one can interfere him. A bean bag or a foam is ideal as bed.

Namely, those are soft and retain the warmth of the body of the animal, as well as easy to wash. The braided dog beds with a pillow are specifically aesthetic. Anyway, there is a suchlike dog house on the market that you can use inside your house.

Conclusion

If it is natural for you to have a safe and proper furnished living space, then you’re able to understand how a nook is important for your dog. He is your family member; he defends you, your family and your properties. Please, appreciate his service with a good doggie house!

P.S.: Are your dogs living inside or outdoor? How did you solve your pets’ placement? They feel themselves comfortable inside the dog house?
It would be great to read your opinion in the comments. Thank You!

Dog Barking and Its Causes

Why do dogs bark? That’s because they cannot mew. Smile Putting the joke aside, the dog barking is one-of-a-kind interaction and signaling device with people and other dogs. In other words, that’s part of the dog body language. The varied, diverse, and often vocalizing barking is one of the most distinctive features of dogs live today.

Us, humans, often fret about it, but that’s because we don’t understand the nature of dogs. Our dogs are similar to our children, in certain extent. If they are comfortless, hungry or thirsty as well as detect a threat or worried, they might bark. They indicate something with that, quasi send a message to us or the other dogs.

For example, we have a scorcher heat in these August days. Accordingly, we try to keep ourselves as fresh as possible, on different ways. We go to shaded place or a beach, enjoy the benefits of air conditioning, and consume refreshing drinks. But, can our dog do so, or he lacks these options?

Is there a shaded area for our Fido? Has he enough fresh drinking water or the Sun made its bowl dry? You should supply enough meals, drinking water and shaded place to your pet to feel himself well and voilá … the barking problem disappears.

Why the Dog Barking Formed Anno?

According to research, the ancestors of dogs were barking much less. I read the Applied Animal Behaviour Science, where Csaba Molnar science journalist, formerly an ethologist at Hungary’s Eotvos Lorand University, reported on the research conducted by his team.

Dog-barking-as-a-Rough-Collie-showsAs I understand it, the barking as a form of speech developed as a feature of the domesticated dogs. Their predecessors understood each other’s specific body language and voice signals well. Consequently, a need for barking rarely occured in their life.

The signals of dogs are partly vocal, and to some extent, based on gestures. Unfortunately, the man wasn’t really able to read the body language of dogs. Thus, canines had no other choice than to have learned to speak, that is bark.

So perhaps we can understand them. Interestingly, if a domesticated dog runs wild (becomes homeless, will be stray on streets), then after a while he forgets to bark again. It is likely that the barking spread to such an extent as it would be the impact of living together with people.

The ethologists were studied and analyzed digitally a lot of variable barking shape. And now they not only attach importance to the communication between the varieties. But, they also pay attention to the information connection of creatures working with people as well.

They recorded the intonations in many situations and analyzed the acoustic characteristics. They wanted to identify on what basis the people determine the mood of barking. The results show that people can determine on a fairly uniform manner the probable atmosphere of dogs based solely on their sounds (e.g. yelping frequency).

The bark is therefore, a very effective communication tool. That allows dogs (and people too) to be capable gathering a fine picture about the different and unique atmosphere and the external environment of the barking species. Furthermore, it may help to understand better our four-legged friends. Consequently, we can read their sign language.

Bark Types

The rowdy dogs – as my research and experience show – can be divided into six main groups according to the causes of barking:

* The “excited” dog is passionate and can be stimulated easily. It moves a lot, and sometimes gasps throughout barking. Its continuous barking is directed towards that thing which irritates him. That might be, for example, an unusual noise, a frog, a bird or a hedgehog in the garden, etc.

Dog-barking,-as-a-Poodle-calls-you-to-play-with-a-yelp* The “look at me” type dog feels himself lonely and wants attention. He looks at the chosen people or animal and starts crisp, strong, definite barking. He is quirky enough to make a short pause to see if anyone was watching. It may occur; he spices his barking with tail wagging or dance around for even more attention.

* The “neglected” dog is barking to release its steam. Its obsessive barking has monotonous rhythm, not specifically aimed at anything. Sometimes he stops its show, but for just to gather strength to be able to start again. He’s barking in stationary position, but sometimes he can lift his head and howl.

* The “overly affectionate” dog suffers from separation anxiety. She misses a person, especially important for herself. Her frantic, high-pitched bark might be compounded with salivation, or whining. Sometimes, she barks by turning right at the door or the window where she saw her loved one. Such dogs are also often expressed their sorrow with chewing, scratching.

* The “defensive” dog is concerned; she is terrified. He sees, hear or smell something, which causes him to fear and communicates in short, sharp, high-pitched barking. You also can see physical signs of fear. He is trembling, shaking or pulling herself together. This dog is looking in the direction of the source of fear and moves forward when he barks. But then he prefers to turn back, retreat to a safe point.

* The “offensive” dog barks from a threat, to protect whatever it is worth: himself, his territory, food or other property, or even the owner. It’s a brave dog who has no remorse about to attack the intruder if gets too close. To let people see themselves bigger than it is, he uses the shocking effect. He barks in increasing tempo; his barking is intensive, but brief, and often preceded by a growl.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter, what’s the reason of the dog barking. That only becomes a problem if you don’t understand what’s behind.

The Dangerous Dog Classification Is Real?

Calling dangerous dog all individuals of a certain canine breed rather than any other species of another type is real? Of course, when people hear about a dog attack in the news, they look up suddenly. People want to know what kind of canine it was. Although they often cannot remember the circumstances, but folks just claim that’s a dangerous dog. Taking this chance, I want to pour clean water into the glass here.

Authority Measures

Which-is-a-dangerous-dog

Dangerous dog isn’t born rather becomes due to the weakness of an owner. Of course, I understand that  authorities have taken steps to implement more and more safety measures. To make it mandatory to wear a leash in public areas is absolutely legitimate expectation I believe. Think about it; using the leash, the dog owners and the outsiders get manifold advantages.

Dog owners (include me) don’t only protect our environment with that.  We also defend ourselves and our dogs. We stand for ourselves from the dispute arising. We protect us from the fines and the killer look by non-dog-lovers. And protect our dogs from the escape, run over by car and other hazards.

As a responsible and empathetic dog owner we need to keep respect for people who are afraid of dogs. That way, they can feel themselves safer. But, I think; the muzzle is a different story, however. Whether it may be a source of the prejudice from part of the non-dog-fan people.

Imagine that one outsider sees a canine walking on a tight leash equipped with a muzzle. Chances are he tend to call it dangerous dog immediately – just based on the appearance. Consequently, one try to avoid it in good distance. There may be a case when the owner knows that his dog may be aggressive for other people or dogs. If this is so, then he must put a muzzle on his dog, that’s evident.

In addition, many other questions can arise within us. Wondering, the animal control inspector – while checking public spaces – to what extent knows the different dog breeds.  Because, I think it wouldn’t be very realistic, if someone examines whether he rightly punishes or not by leafing through a dog adverb book in his hand.

Statistics and Research on ‘Dangerous Dog’

How do they establish a precise “composition” of a mix dog? Namely. that is often can be problematic even to the most practiced eye. However, it would be nice to test the fined person with a little breed recognition game. Namely, I’m faced daily that the average passerby how little knows the different dog breeds.

I read a statistic somewhere on the net. It says 279 (registered) fatal dog attacks occurred between 1979 and 1994 in the United States. When the data comes to light, people at the University of Pennsylvania began a research entitled ‘Animal Interactions In Society’.

The four aspects they examined the dogs were;

– showed aggression toward owner,

– aggression against strangers,

– aggression towards other dogs and

– rivalry with other canines.

They studied and scored the different dogs for years. Then they compiled a list based on 15 most dangerous dog breeds (e.g. Chihuahua, Papillon, Dachshund, Lhasa Apso, Jack Russell Terrier, etc.).

The authors of the study, however, made it clear that all individuals of all different breeds have distinctive personalities. Consequently, they can be aggressive in distinct extent in the unlike situations.

Findings

The researchers found that greater emphasis should be placed on the investigation of reasons and situations that make a dangerous dog. For example; abuse, neglect, keeping on chain, anger, poor education, lack of training, emergency and fright. Other reasons can be fear, insufficient socialization, mother dog protecting her cubs, injury, illness, physical pain.

This study also demonstrates that cannot be categorically claimed that any species of a breed is a dangerous dog. People prone to judge a breed based on appearance or the assumptions and beliefs associated with it. I think that could be called “dog racism” calmly. Please, a dangerous dog is not a biological but a human product.

Though the basic animal temperament, inherited tendency to aggression and habits affect a dog’s personality. But tragedy can happen only if the control slips out of the hand of the owner. Of course, easier to say that a dog unmanageable and dangerous than the owner admit they cannot  handle their own dog.

(Note: I believe that every person should know the limits of himself and his dog. Also should know the features of breed they want to keepbefore bringing it home. I experienced – when worked in a shelter – how little is the knowledge of the owner who gave in their dog as unmanageable.

I also observed quite a few people chose a dog guided by a sudden emotion. In this case, it happens that some fad directs their decision. Problem is they cling to their idea without really listening to the staff recommendation. Not all dogs fit to every prospective owner. And if you aren’t firm enough then don’t choose a breed which expressly requires that.)

The prejudice that they are inherently dangerous is stuck on some breeds. Sad to say, but these dogs always get the role of the evil in the movies, too. Seeing the behavior of Cesar Millan’s dogs, no one can doubt that any breed can be a correct and real companion – only the human attitude matters.

My Conclusion

It can be clearly state on the basis of the above, the breed-based classification doesn’t lead anywhere. Any canine’s behavior can be classified only individually. And which is a dangerous dog would be acceptable on that basis only. Moreover, the importance of education and quality of home conditions shouldn’t be overlooked.

Any canine could be dangerous when his owner treats him as a human and not a dog. Any entity could become a dangerous dog if the owner doesn’t pay enough attention to socialization. It could be harmful any canine when his owner try to discipline it with beating and kicking.

Any pooch can become dangerous dog if their owner is unable to control. However, not the dogs represent the real threat to the society, but also the man himself. Human ignorance and irresponsibility are what is really dangerous.
